Biography: Nicholas (Nick) Woodward Benson, age 18, of Little Rock died Thursday, May 1, 2008. He was born January 14, 1990, a day that brought great joy to his parents, Chris and Debbie Benson and his big sister and brother, Katie and Matt all of Little Rock. He is also survived by his adored niece, Maryn, and special family member, Eric Asbury. His loving grandparents, Guy and Joan Benson reside in Raleigh, North Carolina. Nick was a member of a large, loving extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who are too numerous to name. Animals were Nick’s passion which was evident in his love and care for his two cats, Buster and Rocky and three parakeets, Clare, Timmy, and Snowball. Nick would have graduated with his Class of 2008 at Central High School. He recently received a scholarship based on his winning essay in the 2008 Jerome Heil Essay Oratorical Contest sponsored by the Rotary Club of Little Rock. He was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church and was active in the youth group at Highland Valley Methodist Church. Nick loved spending time with family and friends and never met a stranger. The word that described him the best is compassionate and his parents always commented on what a great heart he had. He is and will be deeply missed. There will be a Youth Vigil held at Allsop Park on Sunday afternoon, May 4, at 2 pm. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008, at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn Street, Little Rock, officiated by Reverend s Vic Nixon and Lynn Lindsey. U of A isn't the same without you. Coming home to LIttle Rock isn't the same either. I miss you every day and pray for you all the time. You are one of my first thoughts of the day and one of the last thoughts of my night before I sleep. You were one of the best friends I ever had and showed me that i was beautiful.
