After attending the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, she married Erwin Martin Arnold on June 5, 1928. They moved to Little Rock in the early 1930s, later moving to Galloway, Arkansas, from 1940 through 1948 where they had a farm and raised cattle. After moving back to Little Rock in 1948 Merville loved her homes on Normandy Road where she and her husband raised their son Ben. She also was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, as well as all Razorback sports, along with having an active interest in politics. Merville was a charter member of Pulaski Heights Church of Christ now Pleasant Valley Church of Christ where she was a member of the Golden Years Class. She is survived by her son Ben F. Arnold and wife Dottye of Little Rock, two grandchildren; John William Arnold and wife Lane, Meredith Virginia Arnold Vose and Chad, all of Dallas, Texas, and five great-grandchildren; Landry and Finley Arnold, Alden, Gardiner, and Harrison Vose. Merville is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Erwin Martin Arnold, three dear sisters, Mabel Bridgeman, Monnie Waldrip, and Myrtle Susan Magness and an infant son John William Arnold who died in 1944. The family wishes to make a special thanks to long time friends and caregivers, Stella Cupps, and more recently Eleanor Ruth, Edna, Helen, Mary, Sharon, Kara, and Ravonda, as well as the staff at Parkway Health Care Center and St. Vincent’s Infirmary. There will be a graveside funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Roselawn Memorial Park, 2801 Asher Avenue, Little Rock, 72204. The service is being officiated by Mr. Nick Hamilton. Ben and family - May you find comfort in the years of beautiful memories you have of and with your Mom. I remember her sweet, friendly voice when she would call the office and ask for your Dad those many years ago. She and Mr. Arnold were so proud of you, Dottye, and especially of John and Mary. Your Mom's love, along with your Dad's, will remain a part of you forever.
May God Bless your special family,
Gayla (Ison) Hooten
