Biography: Marilyn “Pert” Lincoln died April 28, 2006, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born on October 6, 1929, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to the late Margaret and Cecil Deen. Upon graduation from Blytheville High School she attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. While at the university, she developed life-long friendships, many of which resulted from her membership in Chi Omega. It was also at the university that she met her future husband, Ben Lincoln. Pert and Ben were married on December 29, 1951, and they began their fifty-five year partnership in Little Rock, where Ben was in medical school. In her early thirties, she began playing tennis. She won several state doubles championships and numerous club championships. Of more significance to her however, were the lasting friendships of her “tennis buddies.” Pert also loved to read, usually at the rate of at least three books a week. She also loved to go to the movies and play her piano. She was a long-time member of Second Presbyterian Church where she was a past Circle Member and Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Country Club of Little Rock. Most of all though, Pert loved her family which, along with her husband Ben, includes three adoring sons and daughters-in-law: Deen and Carol Lincoln of Little Rock, Mark and Susan Lincoln of Nashville, TN, and Steve and Blanche Lincoln of Washington, D.C.; five beloved grandchildren: Benjamin Lincoln of Washington, D.C., Jackie and Sam Lincoln of Nashville, TN, Reece and Bennett Lincoln of Washington, D.C.; her sister, Jackie Auten of Cambria, CA; her brother-in-law Steve Brooks of San Antonio, TX; and two special cousins Betty Mitchell of Bella Vista, and Shirley Sanders of Blytheville. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Ann Brooks and Eula Smith. A family burial service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at Roselawn Memorial Park, followed by a celebration of Pert’s life at 2:00 PM at Second Presbyterian Church with Rev. Steve Hancock officiating. Pert asked that memorials be made to the Fletcher Public Library System or Second Presbyterian Church. www.ruebelfuneralhome.com
