Biography:

Vickie Toland Gill, 78, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026, at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Vickie was born January 28, 1948, in Nashville, Arkansas, to Jay Van Toland Jr. and Mary Atha Toland. She grew up in Nashville and graduated from Nashville High School, where she was a proud Scrapper, cheering with the Scrapper Belles pep squad and playing basketball. She went on to graduate from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, where she made many lifelong friends, who she stayed close to throughout her life.

Though trained as a speech therapist, Vickie chose to devote herself to raising her three sons, Jason, Matthew and Ryan, whose father is Thomas Gill. She was a constant presence at their games and school events, always their biggest supporter. She later went to work at The Full Moon gift shop in Little Rock, where she met so many wonderful people, and in later years she managed the UAMS Cancer Institute Gift Shop.

After losing her father to cancer, Vickie became a hospice volunteer and gave her time and compassion to patients and their families for many years.

Vickie and Larry Wooldridge first met each other as students at Ouachita, and life brought them back together in 2011. Larry became her longtime partner and love. Together they loved to travel, and they spent many happy days in Hot Springs, cheering on the horses at Oaklawn and gathering at Lake Ouachita with their close circle of friends.

Vickie was a member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church in Little Rock, where she was active in the Young at Heart and S.A.L.T. groups and formed many cherished friendships that enriched her life. Among her favorite memories was a train trip across the Canadian Rockies that she and Larry took with their church group.

Vickie had a gift for beautiful handwork. She loved to cross stitch and was an excellent calligrapher. But nothing brought her more joy than her family. To her grandchildren she was "Gigi," and she adored every one of them. They were the great joy of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her dear sister, Jayne McClure.

She is survived by her longtime partner and love, Larry Wooldridge; her sons, Jason Gill and his wife, Kristen, of Fayetteville, Matthew Gill of Fayetteville, and Ryan Gill of Little Rock and his girlfriend, Georgia Wooten, of Jonesboro; her grandchildren, Kayla Crockett and her husband, Chandler, of Springdale, Lydia Gill of Fayetteville, Sarah Gill and her fiancé, Jon Lance, of Springdale, and Ford Gill and Everett Gill and their mother, Anne Cartwright of Little Rock; her great-granddaughter, Collins Crockett; and her brother-in-law, Mike McClure of Fayetteville.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful caregivers who helped her at home.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2026, at 12:00PM in Pulaski Heights Baptist Church, 2200 Kavanaugh Blvd, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205.  Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com
