Biography: Karen Christin “Casey” Holbert, age 60, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, February 26, following a six-month courageous battle from a tumor of the brain. Casey was born April 9, 1947 in Elizabeth, PA. With her focus primarily on children, Casey was a well known volunteer and leader in several community organizations. She served for many years as a volunteer, board member and President of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Auxiliary. And she served for many years as a docent and officer with Friends of the Zoo. Casey was very involved and supportive of her husband’s civic projects, including the founding and construction of the Aerospace Education Center at the Little Rock National Airport. In her youth she competed in and won beauty pageants and danced her way into the famous Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour on national television. With her husband of 40 years, she traveled the world and collected art to brighten the spaces of her home and at the family business, Central Flying Service. She was an amateur genealogist and, proud of her ancestry, traveled to Scotland to research the Fraser clan. Casey’s trademark was her always present smile and laugh which brightened the lives of all who knew and loved her. Casey is survived by her mother, Wanda Thompson; her husband, Richard Neal Holbert, her children and their spouses; Valerie Lynn Holeman, and Bart Holeman; Hillary Ashton Holbert, Scott Taylor Holbert and Kelly Halloran Holbert; and grandchildren Harrison Taylor Holbert, Lauren Riley Holeman and Jett Richard Holbert. A memorial service celebrating the life of Casey Holbert will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Second Presbyterian Church officiated by Reverend Steve Hancock. A reception will follow the service in Second Hall of the church. The Holbert family wishes to express its deep appreciation and thanks to Dr. Brad Baltz, the nurses and staff of the Oncology Section of St. Vincent Hospital and also the Central Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital or the Aerospace Education Center. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home of Little Rock, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.

Dick, Val, Taylor: I am saddened deeply over Casey's passing. She made such an impact on me in so many ways. There was a time when my son was thought to be seriously ill and she showed such great concern for him buying him small gifts to make him feel better. It's the little things that add up to truly make a person so special. I remember her free spirit at parties and events and that will always bring a smile to my face. My thoughts are with you all in this most difficult time. May God's grace comfort and keep you.

I guess that Casey is proof that only the good die young. Though I did not get to spend much time with her it was always special. One of my fondest memories of Casey is doing karaoke in her Mother's back yard. Casey's rendition of "Walk like an Egyptian" was the best! She was certainly a joy to all that ever met her. I will miss her. My deepest sympathy goes out to you all. Love,

Our deepest sympathy to the Holbert family, I know this is a difficult time. Casey was what life is all about. Many people will walk in and out of your life, but very few leave footprints in your heart. Casey left a "Big Footprint" in a lot of people's heart including ours. She had an infectious attitude and "Oh" that smile! I will always admire her for being able to work crossword puzzles in pen. In time you will draw strength from those precious memories. God Bless and keep you all,

I was so sorry when I learned of Casey's death. She was one of the nicest, friendliest, and just plain adoreable persons I have ever met. When I worked at Children's Hospital in the late 70's, she was a Board or Auxiliary member and a sincere bright spot whenever she came to the hospital - she was willing to whatever it took to make a project a true success. Through the years I have run into her at the grocery store, shopping, and most recently at the Reynolds Institute on Aging with her mother. She still greeted me with her sweet and enthusiatic warmth. I will never forget her kindness and her loving ways. My thoughts are with each of you at this difficult time - we have lost a wonderful person.

Casey was a beloved, cherished, greatly admired member of our family from the moment Dick introduced his beautiful, gifted, Yankee lady to us. Her legacy of love, caring, thoughfulness, kindness, generosity, strength, honor, grace, dignity, humor and fun made us all better persons. She was a lovely ray of sunshine to everyone. We feel blessed to have been a part of her life. Our hearts are heavy and hurting now that she is peacefully with God. We will always miss her and will feel a hole in our hearts until we are with her again. All our love,
