Biography: Karen Christin “Casey” Holbert, age 60, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, February 26, following a six-month courageous battle from a tumor of the brain. Casey was born April 9, 1947 in Elizabeth, PA. With her focus primarily on children, Casey was a well known volunteer and leader in several community organizations. She served for many years as a volunteer, board member and President of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Auxiliary. And she served for many years as a docent and officer with Friends of the Zoo. Casey was very involved and supportive of her husband’s civic projects, including the founding and construction of the Aerospace Education Center at the Little Rock National Airport. In her youth she competed in and won beauty pageants and danced her way into the famous Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour on national television. With her husband of 40 years, she traveled the world and collected art to brighten the spaces of her home and at the family business, Central Flying Service. She was an amateur genealogist and, proud of her ancestry, traveled to Scotland to research the Fraser clan. Casey’s trademark was her always present smile and laugh which brightened the lives of all who knew and loved her. Casey is survived by her mother, Wanda Thompson; her husband, Richard Neal Holbert, her children and their spouses; Valerie Lynn Holeman, and Bart Holeman; Hillary Ashton Holbert, Scott Taylor Holbert and Kelly Halloran Holbert; and grandchildren Harrison Taylor Holbert, Lauren Riley Holeman and Jett Richard Holbert. A memorial service celebrating the life of Casey Holbert will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Second Presbyterian Church officiated by Reverend Steve Hancock. A reception will follow the service in Second Hall of the church. Loss of Casey set me as sorrowful as You: she was my real mom during living in your family. And even my parents and my sister were shocked hearing Casey’s passing. Our deapest sympathy to you. We all remember the nice hours in Vienna and we keep Casey’s kind personality in our heart.
