Biography:


Charlotte Perdue, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away after a life filled with family, friendship, creativity, and adventure.

Born August 24, 1942, near Spearsville, Louisiana, to Rodell Black and Ruby West Black, Charlotte grew up in El Dorado, Arkansas, and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1960.

Charlotte began her career with the Arkansas Bankers Association in Little Rock. While working full time, she earned a degree in Finance from the University of Arkansas and later served as Executive Director of the Arkansas Association of Bank Holding Companies, an organization working to change state banking laws. She eventually followed her love of antiques and design, opening Perdue's Antiques and later operating CPDesigns, where she sold antiques and her own handmade jewelry and soaps.

Gardening was one of Charlotte's greatest passions. A Master Gardener, she took great pride in creating and caring for her and others’ beautiful gardens. She also enjoyed crafts, sewing, antiquing, genealogy, and preserving family photographs and stories.

Charlotte loved her church, book club, cousins, and many friends, including members of her “Birthday Group,” which had been together for more than 40 years. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and around the world with family, a Master Gardening travel group, and her “Sisters on the Fly” camping group.

Above all, Charlotte loved her family. She treasured time and adventures with her grandsons, Jacob, Justin, and Clint, and was especially delighted to meet her great-grandchildren, Hattie and Owen.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law, Kristi May; Justin and Clint; Hattie and Owen; her cousins; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Perdue; son, Jeffrey Scott May; grandson, Jacob Cole May; and brother, Lawrence “Larry” Black.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 6th, 2026, at 2PM, in the chapel at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 West Markham St., Little Rock, AR, 72205. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to:  Pulaski County Master Gardeners, 2901 W. Roosevelt Road, Little Rock, AR, 72204.
