Biography: Stanley J. Goldberg, 97, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on September 15^th, 2026 in Denver, Colorado. 

He was born on January 30, 1929, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to Louis B. Goldberg and Dorothy B. Goldberg. Stanley graduated from Little Rock Central High School, where he was part of the dawn of the Wilson Matthews Tigers’ football era, playing in an undefeated season. He went on to play football for Little Rock Junior College and was a member of the historic team that won the 1949 Junior Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Years later, Stanley and his teammates were honored as the very first inductees into the UALR Hall of Fame.

Following his athletic achievements, Stanley proudly served in the Arkansas Air National Guard and was deployed to Japan and Korea. Upon returning home, he began a long career with the A. Tennenbaum Company, eventually leading its spinoff, Grey Supply Company, as Vice President until his retirement.
Stanley was a devoted husband to his late wife, Sandra, and a loving father to his daughter, Julie. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished hunting, fishing, and trips to Oaklawn Racing with his many friends. His passion for the outdoors never waned; even at the age of 97, he was still teaching his grandsons how to tie a fishing lure. He was a fixture at local football and basketball games and remained his grandsons' number one fan throughout their lives.

Community service was a core belief for Stanley. He was incredibly generous with both his time and resources, volunteering thousands of hours at the VA hospital. He was also an active member of the Jewish War Veterans, proudly serving as Commander of his local Post, and was a lifelong member of Temple B’nai Israel.

Stanley is survived by his daughter, Julie Goldberg Timmins (Edward Timmins); his grandsons, Walker Timmins and William Timmins; and his sister, Faye Marks of Memphis, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Goldberg; his brother, Avrome David Goldberg (Jean Tarwater Goldberg); his sister, Harriet Goldberg Charak (Mason Charak); and his brother-in-law, Jack Marks.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Oakland Cemetery in Little Rock.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Stanley's memory to Jewish Family Services or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
