Biography: George Etta Deere, age 89, of Little Rock died February 16, 2008 in Melbourne, Florida. She was born in Owensville, Arkansas on August 25, 1918 to the late Jessie A. and Lucinda Barnette. George Etta graduated from Arkansas Teachers College and received her Masters degree from the University of Arkansas. She was a teacher for many years in the Little Rock Public School District. She retired to enjoy cooking, gardening and farming activities. George Etta recently enjoyed spending her winters in warm weather which allowed her to continue her hobbies year round. She was a member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church. She belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma. George Etta was preceded in death by her husband, Runyon Deere, and her son, Robert Thomas Deere. She was survived by her daughter, Linda F. Deere M.D. Her daughter-in- law, Wordna H. Deere; and her aunt, Ruby Greenway. She is also survived by her grandsons, David Deere and his wife Kate, and Jesse Deere and his wife Amy, two great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Pulaski Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday evening at Ruebel Funeral Home.
