Biography:

Bill Wehmer passed away peacefully at his home in Little Rock, Arkansas, on September 3, 2026. He was 67 years old.

Bill came into the world on November 21, 1958, in Shreveport, Louisiana, the son of Henry "Hank" and Jean Wehmer. Life took him plenty of places after that; Memphis, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and finally Little Rock, where he made his home and, as luck would have it, met the love of his life.

He studied accounting at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, earning his BS, and spent a majority of his career self-employed and then as a CFO. Numbers were his gift, but people were his real interest. Every spring he could be found patiently untangling someone's taxes, and he never seemed to tire of it. Helping folks untangle a mess and walk away smiling? That was Bill.

In 1988 he married Dee Dee, the love of his life, and together they welcomed their son, John, building a life full of travel, laughter, and very good meals. He loved scuba diving and the beach. He bled black and gold for the Pittsburgh Steelers, cooked with real skill and even more love, and he absolutely adored his pugs. Mostly though, he loved his family, and everyone who knew him knew it.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Hank and Jean.

He leaves behind his wife, Dee Dee Wehmer; his son, John Wehmer and his wife Sandra Juarez; his brothers, Chris Wehmer with his wife Anne, and Paul Wehmer with his wife Joy; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who will miss him more than words can say.

We would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care and compassion for Bill.
A casual service will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 9th at 2:00 PM. Afterwards, everyone is welcome to raise a glass at Dugan’s Pub at 5:00 PM as we celebrate a life well lived, which is exactly how Bill would have wanted it.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where a memorial fund has been set up in Bill's name (links on Facebook and in the obituary). Donations are also welcome for MD Anderson and the Little Rock Friends of the Animal Village, two causes that meant a great deal to Bill and his family.
