Biography:
Lebert Raphael McLennon, 77, died peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. He was born in Balaclava, St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica to Raphael McLennon and Rosalyn Pusey on January 4,1949.
He spent much of his childhood playing with family and friends, getting into mischief, and making his own toys like cars and slingshots. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed climbing and taking naps in coconut and mango trees.
At 14, he moved to Oxford, England with his father, where he continued his education. During his time in Oxford, Lebert enjoyed the UK May Day Bank Holiday with the traditional Punts along the historic Oxford Canal and River Thames.
After his schooling, Lebert worked a variety of jobs including at the Pressed Steel Company and Ford Motor Company in Dagenham, England, which fueled his passion for cars and his love of Cowley Road and Oxford United. Later during his time in England, he met his wife Helen. In 1990, after Helen accepted a position at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the two packed up their lives and moved to the United States.
Although it took some time for it to grow on him, Lebert came to deeply love Little Rock. Lebert especially loved the natural beauty of Arkansas and would take daily 6 mile walks around different parts of the city, often frequenting his favorite spots, Maumelle Park, and later in life, Two Rivers Park.
While walking was a favorite way of exploring, Lebert’s true passion was driving. When it came to traveling, he always preferred to drive, which resulted in family road trips everywhere from Toronto to Miami. Along the way, they would listen to a steady rotation of reggae and country music in the family’s sturdy Honda Odyssey, which they still have to this day.
Lebert had a variety of other hobbies and passions. He enjoyed playing darts, cooking and eating Jamaican food, playing dominoes, keeping up with West Indian cricket, and following his favorite English Premier League soccer team, the Tottenham Hotspur.
He was known to so many as a quiet caring soul and leaves behind many who will miss him dearly and will mourn his death including his wife of 37 years Helen McLennon, children Michael, Wayne, Katrina “Trina” and Marvin and their families, along with his 8 siblings, Eloria, Caswel, Deleta, Maureen, Desmond, Jean, Karral, Owen and their families.
His visitation will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home (6313 W Markham St, Little Rock, AR 72205) on August 28 from 5-7PM and his funeral will take place at Saint Mark's Episcopal Church (1000 N Mississippi St, Little Rock, AR 72207) on September 18th at 1PM with reception to follow.
