Biography: General Edward J. Hopkins, 1911 - 2008, Benton, Arkansas, passed away February 5, 2008, Scottsdale, Arizona. He was married to Mildred on June 24, 1934, in Little Rock. Mildred passed away November 12, l996. General Hopkins earned his BA degree in Business Administration and a ROTC Commission from Ouachita College, in 1932. In 1949, he received an Advanced Management Degree from Harvard University Business School and was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus status from Ouachita in 1977. Edward entered World War II as a US Army Air Corp Captain in 1940. After serving in Corsica and France, he left the Army Air Corp in 1945 as a full Colonel. In 1946 with the formation of the US Air Force, he became the 1180th officer admitted to the United States Air Force. He was promoted to General in 1958 and retired as Comptroller, Strategic Air Command, in 1965. After his military career he joined the International Executive Service Corps in New York City promoting business development world wide. He served as Executive Vice President and CEO for 13 years. General Hopkins moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 2001 from Country Place in Little Rock, after heart surgery. The General is survived by two sons, five grand children and nine great grand children. Uncle Ed was unconditional love...I will treasure
our relationship forever..My dearest of all uncles, I'll miss our phone calls and our Sunday
lunch meetings in Texarkana about once a month
at the Red Lobster. I'm blessed to have visited
him in Scottsdale in June, 2007...Happy
