Biography:

(Dee) Ann Stevenson Grigsby, 82, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on July 21 after battling cancer. Ann was born February 26, 1944 in Akron, Ohio. She grew up in North Hollywood and Garden Grove, California. After graduating from Rancho Alamitos High School in 1961, she went on to study English at Hendrix College.

After college, Ann started her career in education teaching in Forrest City, Arkansas, which led to becoming the coordinator of Volunteers In Public Schools in Little Rock. After many years of dedicated work within the Little Rock School District, Ann became the head of the Office of Desegregation Monitoring for the US District Court, where she remained for the duration of her career. She was a soprano in the Arkansas Chamber Singers, and in later years sang in the choir at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. She was a voracious reader, an excellent public speaker, and a talented pianist, with Clair de lune her favorite piece to play.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ann Stevenson, and brother John Stevenson. She is survived by her husband, Anthony Grigsby of Little Rock, Arkansas; her daughter, Jane Brown of California; daughter Elizabeth Wahl and husband Matthew and children Zachery and Benjamin of Little Rock; Jonathan Brown and wife Erin of Canada; son Andrew Brown of Little Rock; and brother Kent Stevenson of Montana who mourn her passing and remember her fondly for her empathy, devotion to social justice and those in need, keen intelligence, the ability to do almost anything, and love for family and friends.

Funeral services are Wednesday, July 29 at 11 AM at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Following a reception, burial will be at Marcus Hill Cemetery north of Enola, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Any memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or any charity benefiting education.
