Biography:

Patrick Dana Miller, 78, of Little Rock passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026. Pat was born in El Dorado, Arkansas to Roy Dale and Margaret Hollingsworth Miller on February 3, 1948.

Growing up in El Dorado, Pat was an Eagle Scout, member of the El Dorado high school football team, Student Body President of the 1966 Class, and worked from a young age at the Hollingsworth Feed Store, which was owned by his parents. After high school, Pat attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, graduating in 1970, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Being a young man in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, Pat faced the harsh reality of being drafted into military service during the Vietnam war. To prepare, he took the initiative and enrolled in the ROTC program at the University. Through this action, he was able to secure a role in the Air Force that suited Pat perfectly. He was stationed in Thailand during the conflict, earning the rank of Captain, and was put in charge of running and operating the Officer’s Club. Whether he was in Thailand with the US Air Force, the Little Rock Country Club 4-ball, or even his own front yard on North Taylor, Pat loved and excelled at hosting a party.

In 1974, after completing his service in the Air Force, Pat entered the investment business with Merrill Lynch in Little Rock. He continued to learn and build his brokerage skills with TJ Raney & Sons, Stephens, and Worthen Investments, before starting Millennium Capital Advisors in 1996, a joint venture with the accounting firm, Moore Stephens Frost. Pat proudly maintained personal relationships with clients until his retirement in 2023. He would not let the evolution of technology change the way he did business, as his clients could always count on a phone call or face-to-face meeting about their portfolio.

Pat married the love of his life, Cynthia Marian Coates, in January of 1976, and was the proud father of two children, Mat and Marian. He was the best cheerleader and dad throughout all their sports endeavors during childhood, and was always a wonderful, supportive father well into adulthood.

He also served his community by volunteering and serving on boards for various local organizations: Little Rock Boys and Girls Club, Arkansas Heart Association, Little Rock Wastewater Commission, Chairman of the Little Rock Country Club 4-ball, and was an active member at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, as well as many other organizations.

Pat enjoyed spending his free time on golf courses in Little Rock and all around the United States, especially with his closest friends. Countless memories were made on golf trips with his Cocoa Butter group and on Wednesday nights in the Men’s Grill at the Country Club of Little Rock with the Hump Night group. During duck season, Pat spent his weekends in Dewitt at his quaint duck lodge, The Milwyck, that he shared with his lifelong best friend Wyck Nisbet. During the Christmas season, Pat was known to show up at your door step with a wine or “whatever was available” bottle full of his famous homemade Pat’s barbeque sauce. Although he had numerous requests to take the sauce to market, he took pride that each batch was made by him and considered a prized gift.

Pat is survived by his children Mat Miller and Marian (Eric) Steward, grandchildren Alex Miller, Merrit Miller, Lyle “Miller” Steward, and Marian Elizabeth “M.E.” Steward, all of Central Arkansas; and a nephew Aaron Miller of Dallas. Pat was predeceased by his loving wife Cindy, his parents, brother Mike, and niece Michelle. A widower for 13 years, Pat was able to find companionship with a friend from childhood, Carol Garison Kiernan. The family thanks Carol for her love and support of Pat for the past 9 years.

The last few years were tough for Pat as he battled intestinal cancer and the symptoms that resulted from surgery and treatment. The family is thankful for Pat’s lifelong friend, Dr. Dean Kumpuris, who made house calls and helped oversee the treatment. The family would also like to thank his caretakers at Arkansas Hospice Comfort Care Center during Pat’s final days for their care of Pat and to the family. In his final months, Pat continued to entertain many friends as he never let the idea that cancer would take him away from us.

A celebration of Pat’s life will take place at a later date, which will be published in the newspaper.
