Biography:
Allan (Butch) D. Berry Jr. died July 21 at the age of 81 surrounded by his wife and three daughters. Butch was diagnosed with dementia in 2017. He was gallant in his fight with the horrible disease and always showed unwavering courage and grace.
Butch was born in Memphis Tennessee 10/19/1944 and grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. He received his bachelor’s degree in banking and finance from the University of Arkansas and a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He was a CPA and worked for the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock before he retired.
He was preceded in death by his father Allan D. Berry Sr, his mother Mildred Boe Berry, and his sister Joann B. Martin (Garth).
He is survived by his wife Sharon of 59 years; his three daughters Elizabeth Berry (Jim Hazlewood), Judith Putnam (Ted), Margaret Berry; his granddaughters Lainey Garrett, and Emily Putnam.
Butch was an avid Razorback fan and spent his life supporting Razorback athletics. The only thing he loved more than a Razorback tailgate on a beautiful day was being surrounded by his family who he always referred to as “his girls”. Butch loved music. He played guitar and sang in the choir at the Cathedral of St. Andrew and Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Churches.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday August 5 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church with a Rosary at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns Carmel of St. Teresa of Jesus littlerockcarmel.org, or the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund curealz.org. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

I had the privilege of working with Allan at the Diocese of Little Rock for some 15 years, our offices side by side the whole time, and it truly was a privilege. There are many accolades that could describe Allan, but they can all be summed up by the fact that he was truly a good man. My sympathies to "his girls" which he lovingly used to reference his wife Sharon, and daughters Elizabeth, Judith, and Meg. Rest in peace my friend!! Jim

Sharon, I cannot begin to tell you how I felt when my sister Betty sent me the obituary from the paper. I just totally lost contact with Butch and you. I tried three or four times to locate you but was unable to. I am heartbroken over this. I pray for you and the family for comfort and strength and the peace that Christ said passes all understanding. I wish you would give me a call sometime when you feel able. My number is 901-359-3397. While you can be comforted and grateful that he is no longer suffering, his absence will be felt most keenly. I’m so sorry for ur loss
I was privileged to work with Allan Berry for 16 years at the Diocese of Little Rock. He was a friend as well as a co-worker for the church. As an employee and a CPA, his honesty, integrity, and professionalism were of the highest order. Most of all, I knew him to be a devoted husband and father and a man of faith.
May he rest in peace and consolations come to all who loved him.
