Biography:
Kathleen Shannon McWeeny Taylor of Little Rock, formerly of Fort Smith, passed away on June 22, 2026. Shannon was born on January 29, 1966 in Kennett, Missouri to her parents, Rev. Dr. William A. McWeeny and Dorothy Sieplein McWeeny. She graduated from high school in Marianna, Arkansas and went on to study at College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, where she met her husband, Hugh “Chip” Taylor. Shannon and Chip married and were stationed in various states while Chip served in the U.S. Navy. They had three children and returned to Arkansas at the conclusion of their Navy service. Shannon’s greatest joy in this life was her children, and she was very proud of each of them.
Shannon was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her children, Maegan Taylor of Pea Ridge, Sam Taylor (Eleni) of Tucson, Arizona and Ben Taylor of Little Rock; granddaughter, Savannah Edwards of Pea Ridge; sister Beth McWeeny (Philip Gallaher) of Little Rock; several nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A service honoring Shannon will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to an animal shelter or animal advocacy organization of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com
