Biography:
Jane Armour McRae Thompson- also lovingly called Sunshine, Jansy, Mommie, and Gran,
died on July 13, 2026. Born on July 5,1942, in Little Rock, to John Pemberton McRae and Jane Armour McRae, she spent most of her childhood in Scott, with her younger sister and brother. She loved swimming in Ol’ RIver, riding horses, and sleeping on the back porch of the “Big House”.
She graduated from North Little Rock High School and the University of Arkansas.
She was quick witted, feisty, honest, and always kept up to date on current events and politics. An avid lover of animals, she provided generous support to many charities, and rescued at least a dozen animals. Gran was always up for a shopping trip and a lunch date (her treat) and enjoyed buying everyone cute shoes and purses. She made a conscious effort to keep up with family and friends- always wanting to know how everyone was doing. She sent cards and letters for all occasions, and supported everyone around her. Jane had a heart full of love and never met a stranger.
Most importantly, when talking about Gran, you can’t forget her wonderful, genuine smile and infectious laugh. She always kept space for grace, forgiveness, and love. Jane is survived by her husband John A. Thompson, daughters, Caroline Jackson Morgan and Laura Jackson Whitley, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sons-in-law, stepchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, caretakers, and everyone in-between. Mommie was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed.
A visitation will take place at Reubel Funeral home on Saturday July 18th at 2:00pm, with a Memorial Service following at 3:00.
