Biography:

Dr. Pittman “Pitt” Douglas Moore of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on May 19, 2026. The youngest of seven siblings, Pitt was born on July 18, 1970, to Billie Jo and John Owen  Moore, Sr. in Helena, Arkansas.

At an early age Pitt displayed a passion for sports, especially for the Hogs and Dallas Cowboys. Complimented by natural talent, leadership qualities, and a willingness to work hard, (a quality engrained in him by his father) he excelled at and lettered in several sports while attending DeSoto High School, earning positions on All-Star teams in both football and basketball. He would carry those qualities, and the impact and lessons team sports had on him, across all of his life’s endeavors. Not only physically gifted, Pitt excelled academically, notable for rarely studying and hating to read, continuing his education at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1988. He quickly made what would become life-long friends through the Sigma Chi Fraternity, holding several leadership positions during his time there. Pitt enjoyed his college years to the fullest and would also proudly return to the football field for the fraternity’s annual Charity Bowl games. He spoke often, with great reverence and likely with some embellishment, about these games and the brotherhood he found among his fraternity brothers.

Although graduating in 1992 with a degree in Biology on a pre-med track, Pitt chose to return to Helena to pursue the family business by farming  alongside his father. It was during this time that he married his college sweetheart, Angie Horner (Hot Springs, Arkansas) and together they welcomed their two children, Cole and Emma. While suited for the early mornings, long days, and hard work of farming, Pitt was ultimately led back to medicine following the diagnosis of his young son with a rare retinal cancer and assisting in the emergency room care of a life-long friend after a severe car accident. Upon his acceptance to the University of Arkansas Medical School in 2000, Pitt moved his young family to Little Rock where he would again make new lifelong friends in his pursuit of a medical career as an OBGYN. Years later, a beautiful and spirited Casey Davis, also born and raised in Helena, caught Pitt’s eye at dinner one evening at a local Little Rock restaurant. Pitt and Casey quickly discovered a special connection that led to their marriage in 2008. Their family began quickly, welcoming the first of their three children, Davis, followed by Dylan and Jack.

As a doctor, Pitt excelled in complicated surgeries, advanced robotic technologies, maternal care and delivery, and as an advocate for hormone research and treatment. A passionate and caring physician, he was adored by his patients and highly regarded by the many nurses and colleagues he worked with. Despite his imposing size and physique, Pitt’s thoughtful and gentle approach to the needs of his patients marked his career as a genuine caregiver. He was particularly proud of the team he worked with at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs where he intended to spend the remainder of his working days.

As a father, Pitt’s love for his children was only equaled by his intentionality in imparting on them life’s lessons he had gained through the years. He rejoiced and celebrated the unique personalities and talents of all five of them. Where their interests aligned (sports and medicine), he offered coaching and guidance. Where those interests diverged (the creative arts and fabrication), he offered support and fostered passion.

As a husband, son, brother and friend, Pitt’s fierce loyalty and devotion cemented relationships that will continue and extend well beyond his own life. Despite the large size of both his immediate and extended family and friends, he always welcomed extra company at home or on the lake with a cold beer and a seat at his table. He seemed most comfortable in a swimsuit and flipflops, his arms and shoulders unencumbered by sleeves, while flipping something on the grill. Pitt enjoyed nothing more than making great memories with his family and friends and those enduring memories will continually bring a smile and a laugh to those who had the great privilege of being a part of them.

Pitt Moore was adored, looked up to, respected, and admired throughout his life. His legacy is one of great passion, care, and commitment that will be carried on through the many lives touched by his. He is preceded in death by his father, John Owen Moore, Sr., a man who he dearly loved, admired, respected and enjoyed.  Pitt is survived by his beloved Casey Davis Moore and his children Dr. Cole Douglas Moore (Brooke), Emma Susan Moore (Logan), Davis Pittman Moore, Dylan Pearl Moore, and Jack Preston Moore. He is also survived by his mother, Billie Jo Moore; his siblings Mindy Boggs (Larry), Annette Moore, Cathy Howe (Jay), Jamie Leppert (Patrick), Angie Stepp (Scott), and John Owen Moore, Jr.; as well as his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his children and family, he is continued in life through his innumerable friends, colleagues, devoted nurses, medical students, and patients. Pitt will be deeply missed.

A memorial service to celebrate Pitt’s life will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. in the Cabe Theatre at Wildwood Park, 20919 Denny Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72223.
