Biography:
David Morris Parson, Sr., 88, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, with family by his side.
David was born in Van Buren, Arkansas, in his family home on Cherry Street. At an early age, he was called to preaching—even considered becoming a minister—but his path led him to other ventures. He graduated from Camden High School in 1955, served in the Army, and later earned a degree in Accounting from Ouachita Baptist University. He eventually became comptroller for Dogpatch USA, an amusement park in Harrison, Arkansas. In mid life, he began a career he greatly enjoyed as an independent landman, traveling to Texas, Oklahoma, California, and North Dakota. He later worked for the State of Arkansas in the Department of Finance and Administration.
David was married to Frankie Jo Ketchum of Bonnerdale, Arkansas, and together they had two children, Tracey and David Jr. Years later, he married Carolyn Carpenter, whom he met in Sunday school at Immanuel Baptist Church.
David loved golf, the Arkansas Razorbacks, and the Lord—but above all, he adored his family and friends.
David’s family would like to thank the many caregivers and friends who supported him through his years of illness. In particular, they express their deepest gratitude to his wife Carolyn, who devoted herself completely to his care. She never left his side.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Walter Parson, his brother, Tommy Parson, and his brother-in-law, Pat Gazzola. David's wife Carolyn tragically passed away two days after David. He is survived by his sister, Janie Gazzola; his sister-in-law, Twana Parson; his daughter, Tracey Welborn (Dayne) of Longview, Texas; and his son, David Parson, Jr. (Joe) of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brooks Welborn (Dani), Noah Parson, and Miranda Welborn; his great-granddaughter, Georgia Welborn; his niece Tiffany Reddick (Brian); and his nephew Britain White (Kim).
