Biography:
Dr. Joyce Ehman Redetzki, of Little Rock, died on April 30, 2026, at the age of 92.
Joyce born in Waco, Texas, earned a Bachelor of Arts from Baylor University in 1953 and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas – Galveston in 1960.
Joyce had a distinguished career in medicine. It included time spent at the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport and as a Hematologist and Doctor of Internal Medicine at the Central Arkansas VA Hospital.
Joyce and Helmut were students of intellectual pursuits. In retirement, they continued their education in Art History, History, and Literature, taking classes at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Joyce had so many talents beyond her career in medicine. She was a talented artist and craftsman who enjoyed woodworking, jewelry making, and photography. Nature lovers at heart, she and Helmut loved spending time on the trails of beautiful Arkansas with friends, photographing landscapes, flowers, and butterflies.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Helmut Redetzki, her parents Rork Ehman and Zelda Lee Rush Ehman, and her sister Kay Ehman Francis.
Joyce is survived by two nieces from the Ehman family, Cindy Krasniewicz of Arizona and Lisa Boyer of Texas , and two nieces and a nephew from the Redetzki family Katrin Redetzki Lopez of Mexico, Susanne Redetzki Jabs of Germany and Albrecht Redetzki of Germany. Left to cherish the memory is Joyce’s longtime best friend Dr. Catherine Nechvaldoff who was by her side until the very end.
Joyce’s remains will be interred at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas. Arrangements by RuebelFuneralHome.com
