Biography:
Susan Debra Moore, 71, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away April 24, 2026. Susan was born August 13, 1954, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, in the eye of a hurricane to Marilyn and J. P. Moore of Benton, Arkansas.
She was an Air Force brat living in 5 states before attending the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where she obtained a BA in both Philosophy and Art and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Susan achieved an MS in Early Childhood Education at the University of Arkansas. Subsequent to graduation,
Susan worked in PTSD research and was a valued grant proposal writer at the North Little Rock VA Hospital.
She had a fervor for literature, and after retirement volunteered at the Fletcher Public Library where she was awarded volunteer of the year in 2021.
Susan was a member of Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church. She was a great lover of animals and an avid supporter of animal protection and nature conservancy organizations. She loved volunteering at the Little Rock Humane Society and was a donor to the following animal protection organizations: Wildlife Conservation Network of San Francisco, California; Oceania of Washington, DC; Rainforest Trust of Warrington, Virginia; Humane Farming Association of San Rafael, California; and the Jane Goodall Institute of Washington, DC.
Susan is survived by her siblings Cheri Shelby (Richard McIlroy) of Little Rock, Jerry Moore of Little Rock, Dr. Melissa Carry (D. James Carry) of Dallas, Texas, and two nieces, two nephews, one grandniece and six grandnephews.

A celebration honoring her life will be held Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Fletcher Library, 823 North Buchanan Street, Little Rock, AR, from 4:30-6:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com
