Biography:
Dianne Shoptaw McGeorge, born July 30, 1948, in Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on April 7, 2026. Known for her bright and fun-loving spirit, Dianne was marked by her fashion, her fun, her faith, her recipes, her love of being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her sobriety, through which she helped so many others in theirs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nona Pierce Shoptaw, Jack Roland Shoptaw Sr., and Phillip George Huntley, as well as her brother, Jack Roland Shoptaw Jr.
Dianne leaves behind a large and loving family. She is survived by her children, Clay, Brian, Wesley, and Bess; daughters-in-law Susan, Grace Anne, Claire, and Mary; and her two brothers, Hub and Larry Huntley. Her legacy of love continues through her cherished grandchildren, Miranda (Jake), Mallory (Cole), Miles, Maggie, Morgan, Madison, Max, Huntley, and Winters, and her great-grandchildren, Ivy and Malcolm.
An attendee of Pine Bluff High School and a graduate of Fayetteville High School, Dianne was married to Wallace McGeorge III from 1966 to 1998, and together they built a life and family that she cherished deeply.
She quickly became an active and engaged member of her community, including involvement with the Rainbow Girls and the Junior League of Pine Bluff. She was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church, worshipping at First United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff and Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, and was especially fond of her time serving with the FUMC “2 Block 2 Bucks” lunches.
Dianne had been a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1993, committing to sobriety on July 6 of that year. Her journey inspired her to help others, and she was known for the way she showed up for others in recovery, offering guidance, encouragement, and her thoughtful newcomer packets. She also spent time volunteering and supporting Serenity Park Recovery and the Serenity Home for Women.
She loved time at the lake, hosting parties, especially her New Year’s Day chili party, and playing Mahjong and cards with friends and family. She loved shopping, had a great sense of style, and was rarely without her signature high heels. In the most recent chapter of her life, she experienced the special joy of becoming a great-grandmother, a role she cherished deeply.
A funeral service will be held at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 2:00 pm, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arkansas Central Office of Alcoholics Anonymous, or consider sending flowers to your mother or someone deserving in Dianne’s honor.
She will be deeply missed, but we find peace in knowing the joyful reception she received on the other side.
