Biography: Evelyn Royse Hill, 94, of Little Rock and resident of Parkway Village died peacefully Sunday, February 3, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Clark L. Hill. Evelyn was born May 31, 1913 in Wichita, Kansas and moved to Little Rock with her parents in 1930 and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1933. Evelyn and her husband were co-owners of Pla-Mor Sports Center from 1939 to 1967. Evelyn was a long-time member of Winfield United Methodist Church. She was an active member of PTA work in Little Rock public schools for many years and was awarded a lifetime membership for her many years of work. In her later years, she became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed her time with that group. The one word that best describes Evelyn is ‘love’. She was dedicated to the Lord and to her family and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a gracious lady with gentle strength supporting her husband whom she adored and the loving, wise confidant of family who adored her. She will be greatly missed. The family thanks the many people of Parkway Village who so lovingly and compassionately cared for Evelyn. Their tireless work will always be remembered and appreciated with heartfelt gratitude. Survivors are her children, Dana Kay Jackson and husband James of Little Rock, and Kenneth C. Hill and wife Karen of Germantown, Tennessee, and grandchildren, Jennifer Abston and husband Rodney of Little Rock, Ellen Lester and husband Brook of Memphis, Tennessee, Katie Hill of Hermitage, Tennessee and Parker Hill of Germantown, Tennessee and three great-grandchildren. There will be a visitation Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a graveside service Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 Highway 5 North, Alexander, Arkansas, officiated by The Reverend Andy Jackson. I can not tell you how much your Mother, Evely, meant to me. She was my Friend and Customer for 20 or more years. I loved her so much and was always so glad to see her. Dana Kay and I also went to Central together and were friends after school. My prayers are with all of you.
