Biography:
Sarah Lee Miller, aged 82, died quietly on January 26, 2026, at home in Little Rock, Arkansas, in the loving embrace of her husband. Sarah’s charm, wit, and compassion touched the lives of allwho had the privilege to know and love her, and she will be deeply missed.
Sarah was born on May 5, 1943, in Bentonville, Arkansas to Wesley Maurice Buttram and Velma Lenore Adams Buttram. She spent her childhood in Little Rock, where she graduated from Little Rock Central High School. Sarah then attended Hendrix College before completing her degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville
After graduating, Sarah began her career as a public-school art teacher. She shared her passion for art with students at Joe T. Robinson High School in Pulaski County, Hall High School in Little Rock, and Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
During her time at Hall High, her students twice earned the Barrett Hamilton Award, a testament to her dedication and teaching excellence. Throughout her career, Sarah enriched the lives of countless young people. Upon retiring, Sarah devoted herself to gardening, creating serene spaces for joy and contemplation. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel to Cuba, Italy, France, South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Canada, and many destinations across the United States. She also accompanied her husband on international work assignments to Guyana and Egypt, residing in Egypt for a year.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John M. Buttram, sister Julie Adams, and stepson John Ragin Miller. She is survived by her husband, John Terrel Miller and her niece, Kimberly Bishop.
A spring gathering will celebrate Sarah's life. In honor of her love for nature, memorials may be directed to the National Wildlife Federation to support the preservation of wildlife corridors. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com
