Biography:

Carolyn Parks Neuschwanger, 81, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026.  Better known to all as Sissy, she was born on January 29, 1944. Sissy was gregarious, fiercely independent, and a forever fearless interior designer with class beyond class. Quirky and unapologetic, she was always redesigning her own home because perfection was always just one inspired change away. She never backed down from a good debate, especially with her daughter, often joyfully arguing over things as obvious as whether or not the sky was blue.

She had a sharp wit and a mischievous streak, which only added to her charm. She never met a stranger and was quick to engage anyone with an entertaining story.

Sissy’s friends were as eclectic as she was, and she wouldn’t have had it any other way; she loved them deeply. She had a passion for travel, always eager to try, learn, and experience something new. A lifelong lover of history, she was also a dedicated history teacher, beloved by her students, who were drawn to her natural warmth, intelligence, and unmistakable personality.

She was musically gifted. She was a talented pianist who also played a variety of other instruments. For years, she played “Music Box Dancer” so often that her family jokingly thought they might lose their minds. Last Christmas, in a full circle moment of love and humor, she received a music box that played that very song.

She adored her belated dog Bella, as well as a plethora of pets who always managed to rule the house. We find comfort in imagining her whole again, reunited with her loving husband David, Bella, and the rest of the crew joyfully finding life anew.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, David Neuschwanger.

Her legacy lives on through her only daughter, Jamie Wallace, her son-in-law Joey
Wallace, her treasured grandchildren Taylor Wallace (wife Adrienne) and Susan Wallace (and her dog Daisy), her adored great-grandchildren Julianna and Stetson, and her brother (“Brother”) and family.
She will be sorely missed and will be remembered for her eye for beauty, her unlimited talent through music and teaching, her strong opinions, her loyal heart, her humor, and a life lived entirely on her own terms to the very end.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I know how deeply you loved your mom, and how much of you lives on through her—and yes some of the parts that wore you slap out. Ha! Namely, your strength, your heart, your way of loving so fully and so very very loudly. There are no words that can truly ease this kind of pain, but I hope you feel surrounded by love in every moment.

Your mom’s presence, her spirit, and the love she poured into her family will never be gone. They live on in the memories and the gazillion funny stories you’ll always tell, and we will be sure to add some of our own. She truly shaped you to love fiercely and be your own person without excuses. I’m so very honored to have known Sissy and to love her as well. I’ll never forget always somehow bumping into her at Fabulous Finds or HomeGoods. Of course, I had to always be the one accused of stalking her (with her very loudly exclaiming in that voice of hers - WELL JA-UHN!) At the end of the day - this kind of energy and love doesn’t end—it just changes form.

Please know I am holding you all close in my heart. Whether you need a shoulder, silence, tears, laughter, or someone to sit beside you, I am here—today and always. You don’t have to walk this season alone.

I love you. LYLAS!

I am so sorry to hear this!!!! She was such a friend to me. We worked together at Pine Bluff High School for years. We both loved interior design and we put that love together and created beautiful spaces for many clients. I love you Carolyn and will miss you terribly.
