Biography: There will be a service of remembrance for Frank Eugene Esry of North Little Rock, who was reported missing December 31, 2007. Frank was born in Tachikawa Honshu, Japan to the late Shelby Elijah Esry who died in 1974 and his mother Tsuneko “Jeanie” Esry of Jacksonville, Arkansas. Frank attended the University of Central Arkansas studying biology and physical science later receiving his associate degree in electronics from Southern Technical College. He began his career in 1988 as an inspector with the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality Air Division and at the time of his accident he was a Tactical Assistance Manager of the Water Division overseeing the agency’s 13 district field inspectors. Frank’s passion was to protect Arkansas waterways. As remembered by his fellow workers Frank always had a smile on his face and always ready to send an inspector out to look at anything and resolve any issues impacting Arkansas waterways. He also had a passion for boats. For Frank , fishing was just an excuse to be in a boat. Whether it was fun or work you could usually find Frank in a boat, which included being part of a group of longtime friends known as the "River Rats". He also enjoyed his trips to the Gulf of Mexico where he and his sons Shelby and Austin once caught a seven foot shark, or the 14 day cruise as co-captain of a yacht in the British Virgin Islands. Frank is survived by his mother , Tsuneko “ Jeanie” Esry of Jacksonville, Arkansas, his two sons; Shelby and Austin Esry and their mother Kathy Melanie Esry all of Alexander, Arkansas, one brother Steven Esry and wife Rita of Kansas City, Kansas, one sister Melanie Delap and husband Joe of Jacksonville, Alabama, his girlfriend Brenda McCrady of Little Rock, and several nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation Tuesday, February 5, 2008 from 1pm to 2pm at Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a remembrance service at 2pm in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Frank Esry Memorial Scholarship Fund, US bank, 4311 East Broadway, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72214. www.ruebelfuneralhome.com

I know that time heals all wounds, well this wound is slow to heal. I have lost a friend, brother, Co-Worker, ... I was the one who introduced Frank to the "wide world of water pollution." I remember dog setting for Andy and enrolling him in Burger King's Kids Club", using LRWU's downtown address as his home address. Frank paid me back by secretly eating my chocolate kisses. Frank and I once had a Krystal Burger eating contest, he won of course. I was truly blessed to know Frank. My heart snd thoughts go out Frank's family and many friends.

I am sorry that this is a late submission. I was unable to attend the services (health issues) and hope that this is received by those who knew Frank.

Frank, I look at your picture all the time and still can't believe you are gone. For so many years you have been a part of my life, a brother and a friend. I miss you terribly and have prayed for you, and for Brenda. Her heart is broken, I feel it too. The "twin thing" as you called it. Her life will not ever be the same. She calls me, knowing it is your number she wants to dial. Know you are loved and missed. Family hoildays, life in general, will not be the same without you big guy. I will continue to pray for Brenda, your mother and your boys. I Love Ya.

I am an old friend of Frank's back in 1977. We dated a brief time and I moved away. I mainly remember his warm smile and that he had so many friends. I lost touch with him and didn't realize he was still living in LR. I happened to be driving through LR yesterday heading back home and heard the news on the radio. I couldn't believe this happened to him. I am praying for his family during this time. I'm sure Frank is in a better place and watching over his 2 sons and the rest of his family.

One never knows what to say at a time like this. Mere words can not express our feeling. Frank was a friend to most everyone he met. He was the kind of person most of us strive to be… I don’t ever remember Frank ever telling anyone NO. If you needed his help on anything Frank was there. We miss you Frank! Tell Richie and Dave Hello. Time passes quickly, see ya on the BIG SANDBAR FRIEND.

Frank was a genuinely unique individual. His warm smile and wry sense of humor could brighten anyone's day. He was always eager to lend a helping hand without reservation. He was a true friend and a great co-worker. He touched so many lives that something of him will carry on for many generations to come. We will all miss him.

To Frank's Family and Loved Ones,

I saw Frank on that Saturday afternoon getting a gas fill up at the Camp Robinson Kroger. I talked to him and asked him how his mom "Jeanie" who my wife and I lived next to for 25 years was doing. After I couldn't physically mow 3 lawns a week, Frank picked up the duty at his Moms' He was happy and excited to get out on the water with that boat even with the wind and cold temps. I know if he had to choose he would have said "What better way than doing what you love?" He will be missed by all that knew him and remembered as a man that made his own choices. Remember him as the true man he was.

Sincerely,
Dave Kennedy

Hey Frank, Thanks
Those are the last words I said to you as you were walking out the door at the Elks. The words had more meaning than one would imagine.
Hey Frank, thanks for volunteering that day, the friendship, the baby-sitting, a person to blame things on, the laughs, the "one more". I would give anything for "one more"
The fabric of life has a hole that will be difficult to mend.
I will truely miss you

We consider Frank a dear friend. We enjoyed Frank's "quiet" sense of humor and will always remember his smile. We only had occasion to be on his boat a couple of times, but you knew he loved the water! Although we did not have the pleasure of meeting his two sons, Frank dearly loved those boys, as he spoke of them often. Frank will be truly missed.

To Frank's family and friends,
I knew Frank when we attended UCA. What I most remember about Frank is his big smile and his love of cookies!
I met Frank when I lived in Mansard Apartments. He shared an apartment with Gene and Rusty. Frank would come by my apartment and eat my homemade oatmeal raisin cookies.
It is ironic that I work for the health department and never knew until today that he worked there too. God Bless you!
