Biography:

Beverly Hart Davis, age 95, of Little Rock, and formerly of Monticello, passed away on October 26, 2025. She was born on the family farm in Carrolton, Missouri, on September 17, 1930, to Rev. Cecil O. and Evelyn Metz Hart.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Bonnie Lee Hart and Dessie Lou Walton, brother O. Nelson Hart, and daughter-in-law Mimi Mitchell Davis.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jerry T. Davis; her children, T. Martin Davis (Bev Foster), Little Rock, Jonathan Davis (Laura Wagnon), Monticello, Bryan Davis (Susan), Little Rock, and Brett Davis (Sally Wood), Owensboro, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Jeremy Davis (Tonya), Elizabeth Bradley (Brett), Foster Davis (Laura), Frederick Davis (Sarah Beth), Charles Davis (Sophie), Collins Greene (Kyle), Tess Davis, Stockley Davis, Maggie Hendley (Russ), and Mary Maude Davis; step-grand-children Andrew Schoessel (Tenderly Mondragon) and Austin Schoessel (Vanessa); and her great-grandchildren, Emory, Kyra, Olivia, Jake, Troy, Lakin, Jones, Davis, Bryce, Blake, Carolina, Thomas, Aden, Everett, George, Jake, Ladd, Florence, Bertie, Audrey, Scotty, Sutton, Samson, and Hays Clark Hendley who is expected in the spring. She is also survived by her brother Glen Hart (Marilyn, deceased) and family, Lake Oswego, Oregon, and sister Roseann Malter (Tom) and family, Malta Bend, Missouri.

Growing up during the Great Depression and its aftermath, Beverly learned the value of hard work as her family faced the challenges of making a living. After graduating from Carrolton, Mo. high school, she worked in a clothing store to help support the family and from which she acquired a smart sense of dress. Through a cousin, she met her husband Jerry when he returned to Missouri after service in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. In 1954, upon Jerry's graduation from the University of Missouri School of Forestry, they moved south to the forests of Drew County where they established their family in the Selma community, moving a few years later to Monticello.

Assuming the job of rearing their four sons, all of whom arrived within three years, Beverly was a full-time mom and quickly took to her role as homemaker and volunteer in support of their children's many educational and extracurricular activities at school, church, and in the community. She served as home room assistant, Cub Scout den leader, Sunday school teacher, and drove the kids many miles in their pursuit of swimming, baseball, and football team competitions.

Beverly also made time to serve her local Junior Auxiliary as member and president, and later as regional officer and national treasurer. She served on the administrative board of Monticello First United Church and the board of the Annswood Retirement Center. When her children started college, she returned to the workforce as an administrative assistant at Burlington Carpet Mills, later as an assistant to Monticello Mayor Harold West, and eventually used her experience when she joined the Arkansas Governor's Office of Volunteer Services during the Clinton and White administrations before her retirement. In 1987, she was honored as "Woman of the Year" for Drew County.

Beverly and Jerry eventually moved full-time to Little Rock to enjoy their growing bunch of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but they have returned often to Monticello for their friends, family, and to the beautiful timberlands surrounding Selma for relaxation and hunting.

A memorial service for Beverly will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, with visitation taking place before from 9 to 10 a.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 West Markham, Little Rock, AR 72205, with final interment of ashes at the Selma Cemetery, Drew County, just a stone's throw from their family's first home in Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Selma AR Cemetery, c/o Phillis Mosley, 106 Grant #637, Sheridan, AR 72150, or to the Selma Methodist Church, SMC Preservation Society, c/o Jimmy Potter, 367 Hwy. 293, Tillar, AR 71670. My deepest condolences to the Davis Family, I've only been apart of this family for 16 months, and I'm truly honored to be blessed with this opportunity. Mrs. Beverly was a force to be reckoned with, her kind and confident demeanor, her empathy and sympathy for all who surrounded her is a blueprint we all should strive for. In her last weeks she wanted me to keep the bond with her granddaughters, make sure I stay with Mr. Jerry (until they meet again) and make sure Johnathan was not alone. Mrs. Beverly was meticulous in her planning until the day she left this earth. GOD has a plan and I always say " I work as instructed " To the Davis Family may God be your comfort & strength, and hold on to the memories & lessons Mrs. Beverly left behind.

My memories of Aunt Beverly go back to when I was a small child and the Davis boy’s (Jerry and Roger’s) families would sometimes meet in Bevier, MO for a visit with my Grandparents, Mona and Clyde Davis. Aunt Beverly was always so nice to me and my sisters. I will remember her smile and the way she was comforting to be around. One summer, I worked with my cousins for one of Jerry’s companies. Aunt Beverly was always happy to see me when were able to get back to her home for a weekend visit and always had great meals planned for us. She will be missed by many people and my memories of her will always keep her alive in my heart.

My prayers go out to the family and friends. She was just as sweet as she could be. When I used to work for her, her aunt and Mr. Davis will read the morning newspaper every morning with a cup of coffee and will have the most interesting conversations amongst one another. She will be truly missed..

To the entire Davis family, I cannot begin to tell you of the sorrow I felt upon learning of Mrs. Beverly's passing. The memories of running thru that house on Boyd St. and playing in that huge backyard are some of my fonest childhood memories. Bryan and Jonathan, along with my big brother Steve, always had a dare for me, never once trying it themselves. Your mom and dad were always so welcoming in those short years. Are Love and Prayers to all of you. In Christ, Ed Garrison & Caroline

I am so sorry for everyone’s loss. Ms Beverly was such a fine lady! Growing up in Monticello, Ms Beverly was very involved with community and her family! She was very selfless and how she kept those 4 sons in line was amazing( I have 3 sons) ! I have many fond memories of the Davis’s especially at the swim meets. May God’s love and peace surround you all!

Beverly was a woman of style & grace. My mother Winnie & Beverly created many memories as we would all gather in Monticello as the 4 Davis boys & me & my brother Stan had fun together fishing, hunting, flying kites, playing football in our big front yard & our Dads were grilling dinner or Frying fish. Beverly will be missed by so many. Prayers are with Jerry & all the family during this time of sorrow. May all of you feel Gods lovely arms around you and feel His Peace.

Between the Davis and Scott there were 7 boys that graduated from Monticello High School between 1970-1975. There were very few memories of mine that Beverly, Jerry, or one or more of the Davis boys weren’t present. Mrs Beverly Davis was a dear friend To my mother Opal through all those years. My Dad Robie and Jerry Davis were both in the forestry consultant business. Beverly Davis will always be remembered as an example of what you are suppose to be as a mother., wife, friend, Christian, and a strong woman of the greatest generation. Her positive influence on all
Her family will be her legacy. God bless her, Mr. Jerry Davis, and all her family. I nearly forgot to mention my next door neighbor in Little Rock and one of the Davis boys and one of my very best friends Bryan Davis.
