Biography: Amy Pope Miller, aged 71, passed away on September 28, 2025. She was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on January 27, 1954 to John E. and Wannie Jean Pope. Her grandmother taught her to read before she became three years old, and that precocious ability stayed with her all her life, as she was a voracious reader until she died.
After graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1972, she worked at various times through the years doing office work at John A. Pope Furniture Company in Pine Bluff.
Amy eventually fell in love with the career of court reporting, which she did free-lance for several years. She loved animals and was particularly fond of cats. She was an excellent cook, and also enjoyed tennis and playing the piano. She will be remembered by many as having a wicked sense of humor, and as being purposely outrageous on numerous occasions. Her grandchildren’s name for her was “Sassy,” which was quite appropriate.
After suffering a stroke in 2013, Amy suddenly experienced loss of many of her most loved activities. She showed amazing determination and strength of spirit in being able to continue to live independently.
She is predeceased by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her children, Clay Miller of Little Rock, Seth Miller (Crystal) of Little Rock, and Sarah Miller Wingard of Pine Bluff; two grandchildren, Lucy Miller of Brooklyn, New York and Cillian Miller of Little Rock; and one sister, Jeanie Burton of North Little Rock, AR.
