Biography:

Dr. Thomas “Rev” Revillon Winans, age 80, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on September 15, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Rev spent his childhood in Pasadena and his summers along the shores of Malibu Beach. He also cherished summers at Orm Ranch in Arizona, where he formed lifelong memories and a love for the outdoors.

He attended Choate boarding school in Connecticut before earning both his B.S. and M.S. in Psychology from the University of Virginia, where he was a proud member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He later completed his Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). From a young age, Rev knew he wanted to be a psychologist, and he found deep purpose in the work that would define his career.

Rev was a dedicated psychologist who loved his patients and his practice. He most recently worked at Living Hope Institute Southeast, where he remained until his retirement in June 2025. He was a member of the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapy and appointed to the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling where he previously served as Chair. He also served his community on the Board of the Arkansas Repertory Theatre.

Faith was an important part of Rev’s life, and he was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.

Rev adored dogs, was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening. He was a skilled downhill skier, spending memorable seasons in Sun Valley, Idaho, and he had an enduring love for music. Rev studied the roots and influences of artists and genres, with favorites including 1960s and 70s rock, R&B, and soul. In his 50s, his love of live music led him to follow Widespread Panic whenever he could.

Known throughout his life as a sharp dresser, Rev carried himself with polish and style yet always kept a touch of rebellious spirit. He was rarely seen without a coat and tie, even when others in his profession opted for a more casual look. As he slowed down and began to dress more comfortably, he only ever set aside the tie, holding firm to his belief that you should always look your best, even when at ease. His warmth, intellect, humor, and curiosity left an impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anne Maury Alford Winans, and their sons, William Whistler Winans and Alexander Alford Winans. He is also survived by his brother, Christian Kautz-Scanavy (Mary) of Alexandria, Virginia, and his sisters, Neva Winans Leoncini (Gian Mario) of Rome, Italy, and Leslie Boswell Clark (PJ) of Bellingham, Washington, along with countless extended family and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 310 W. 17th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. The service will be open to the public, with a reception to follow at Morrison Hall. A private burial will be held at Mount Holly Cemetery.
