Biography:

Retired Lt. Col. Roger Dennis Elliot, age 76, of Maumelle, Arkansas, passed away on August 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Roger was born on December 9, 1948, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and raised in Rockport, Texas, the beloved son of Homer and Willie Mae Elliot. He was a proud brother to his younger sister, Rose Ann Elliot.
He honorably served his country as a helicopter pilot in the United States Air Force for 23 years, demonstrating dedication, bravery, and exceptional leadership. Following his military career, Roger continued his commitment to service as the Arkansas State Disaster Coordinator for the American Red Cross, positively impacting countless lives.

On February 4, 1978, Roger married the love of his life, Jamie Elliot, after a romance that could only be described as movie-worthy. Together, they shared a life full of devotion, joy, and travel. Both were active and devoted members of Second Presbyterian Church, finding fellowship, faith, and happiness in singing together in the church choir.

Roger was a loving father to his children: Virginia Poole (and husband Bill), Jasmine O’Neill (and husband Khaalis), and Charles Andrew Elliot. He also cherished his grandchildren: DJ Johnson (and wife Jesse), KJ O’Neill (and wife Libbie), Will Poole, Anna Caroline Poole, Kylie O’Neill, and Kaden O’Neill. His great-grandchildren include Juni Bleu Johnson and Khaalis Ali O’Neill III, expected in October 2025.

Known for his kindness, selflessness, and generous spirit, Roger leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and strength that will endure through all who knew him.

Following a private family interment with full military honors, a memorial service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, AR 72227. A reception will follow the service.

This brings back happy memories of our high school days. What a great life he had with so many achievements. His family should be proud of him as they mourn his passing. May the Lord comfort you all.

My most sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to Roger's wife and family. I have never known a time where there wasn't a Denny Elliott. When I was recovering from wounds at home it was Denny that was the first to come and check on my physical as well as my mental recovery.
You will be sorely missed my friend.
