Biography: Benjamin Scott Schreiber, 40, of Little Rock died Friday, August 8. Born November 19, 1984, Ben was a life-long resident of Little Rock.

Ben had a great imagination. As a little boy, Ben believed he was Superman and insisted on wearing a red “cape” (actually a table napkin) and being carried in the classic prone position through stores, restaurants, and on neighborhood walks. He and his brother J.J. were closest of friends throughout their lives, with the exception of when J.J. stole his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures.

He was a gifted martial artist, earning his Black Belt in Taek-Won-Do and Wing Chun Kung Fu. Ben was also a talented musician, with the ability to pick up an instrument, “mess around,” and figure out how to play it.

Ben worked in a variety of local restaurants, most recently at Allsopp & Chapple Restaurant, where he was given the opportunity to truly learn and grow as a chef, and as a person. He often called his father, Richard, enthusiastically describing their latest creative dish.

He is survived by his parents Kimberly Piazza Scott and Ron Scott of Fort Collin, CO, and Richard Schreiber and Cindy Fribourgh of Hot Springs; as well as his former wife Stephanie Schreiber, and “stepmom” Judy Williams. Ben was preceded in death by his brother J.J.

A private interment will be held at Mount Holly Cemetery in Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

Ben, words cannot express my grief and what you meant to me but I'll do my best. Ive been to so many places in the world and out of the countless people I met from so many different places and cultures, you have always stood out. Like all of us, you were human and made mistakes, but at your core you were a light in the darkness and you carried that light to so many people who would have otherwise never seen it and who so desperately needed it. That is your legacy. The profound impact that you had on my life and so many others. We had so many plans, with the company and doing more traveling, but I will carry on with those plans in honor of your memory. I take solace in knowing that youre with JJ and life is short after all so I know I'll see you guys again soon. I love you guys so much. Richard, Cynthia, Kim, Ron, my sincerest condolences, love, and prayers.

Sweet Kim, condolences seem so empty at times like these as there simply are no words that comfort such a grieving heart… to lose a son, your beautiful baby boy Ben. My heart breaks for you and Richard, Ron and Cindy. I simply wish you peace and pray that you are able to feel the love and support that surrounds you all. Ben is still greatly loved; will always be greatly loved. I remember him being born and thinking what a baby you yourself were. May the universe hold this mother’s shattering heart.

I am devastated at the loss of Ben. We spent so much time together. We lived 10 steps away from one another for 2 years. For a long time, Ben was a part of my daily life. He was a true friend throughout the years. When we would see each other it'd be like old times instantly. Richard, you're an amazing human and I am so sorry for your immense losses. I will hold your family in my heart forever. Love never dies, it just changes forms. It grows even in the absence of the one we love. Ben will live on in laughter, silly memories, music, and a nice cool breeze in the summer. I'll be missing you forever. Your friend always, Melissa.
