Biography: Clara Porter Henslee Crow went home to be with her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, July 30, 2025, in Dallas, Texas.

She was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, September 9, 1925.  She graduated Pine Bluff High School and attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.  She contributed to the World War II effort by working alongside high school classmates at the Pine Bluff munitions arsenal.
Porter married the love of her life, Harry Crow, and they began their life together in Little Rock, Arkansas, where they raised their four sons.  Porter and Harry also lived in London, England, UK, and Comfort and Ingram, Texas, before returning to Little Rock in their later years.  Upon Harry’s death in 2002, Porter moved to Dallas to be close to her sons.

Porter loved her family.  She was a proud mother of her sons and a loving mother-in-law.  She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they adored her.  No matter the family activity or holiday, she wholeheartedly participated. She was full of vivacious laughter and fun.  She loved people.  She never met a stranger, and people of all ages were naturally drawn to her joyful, enthusiastic spirit.  She lived by her motto: “Commit to being a friend first, and you will have many friends”.  She cherished a family gathering.  At grandchildren’s events and weddings, she was always the brightest spot on the dance floor, even at 99.

Porter was a lifelong learner and voracious reader. Her interests included design, the decorative arts and period furniture. She had an expert knowledge of silver hallmarks and for several years, was the proprietor of a Texas Hill Country antique store.

Porter was active in her church, Bible studies and prayer groups.  She always gave Jesus the credit for the blessings in her life and blessed others with her kindness and prayers.  People naturally flocked to the light within her, and she always made a point to tell them that her hope was in Jesus and that they, too, could know Him as their Savior.

Porter is survived by her three sons and their wives:  King Crow (Anne), Hobson Crow (Robin), Russell Crow (Mary Clayton); her grandchildren:  Andrew Crow (Sara), Peter Crow (Katie), Mary Crow Rodden (Paul), Asa Crow (Lauralyn); Riley Crow, Lindsey Crow, Harrison Crow , Hunt Wood (Anje), Cathy Jean Wood Harrison (Sam), Saunders Wood, Becca May Wood; her nine great-grandchildren; her sister Mary (Sissy) Lyon and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Porter is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Crow; her son, Lee Crow; her grandson, Larkin Crow; her great granddaughter, Molly Porter Crow; her parents, Mary and Lee Henslee; her brothers, Lee Henslee (Jody) and Jenks Henslee; and her brother-in-law, Own Lyon, Jr.

In celebration of Porter’s life, a memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, September 6th, at Edgemere Retirement Center, 8523 Thackery Street, Dallas, Texas, with a reception to follow.  A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery, in Little Rock, Arkansas, September 12th at 2:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Porter’s memory may be made to Highland Country Fellowship Church, 8202 Boedeker St., Dallas, TX, 75225, or to Fellowship Bible Church affiliate, Fellowship Associates, 1401 Kirk Rd., Little Rock, AR, 72223. I am so very sorry for your loss Mary Clayton and Russell! I thank you so very much for all of the beautiful family dinners I got to attend and also had the great privilege of driving Miss Porter to many dinners where I experienced how loving and so very unselfish she was as a person! She was such a beacon of light to the entire family and was so much fun to be around. She was truly so young at heart - even in her 90s and kept such a positive spirit even in the midst of terrible back pain. She was such a great example to me of what a godly woman of God is and I will be forever grateful for having known her and spent those special times with her and your very loving family! May God comfort you and give you all His peace during this great time of loss. Love you always! Jeannie Beannie

I loved Porter and Harry (who was my mentor). Harry's "love at first site" when he met Porter was joyous to hear. Heaven's gain ! Love and comfort to the Crow family!

To Russell, Mary Clayton & all The Crow Family,
I send to each of you my heart felt sympathy over the loss of your amazing & beautiful mom, Porter. What a jewel of a friend. I adored her southern ways, her smile and her laugh. I treasure many happy memories spending time with her as her helper & friend. She was so pretty & had such excellent taste in art & furniture. I’ll never forget what a stylish dresser she was & how she walked and slightly twirled …reminding me of “the beauty” she was her entire life especially at The University of Arkansas! Her stylish wardrobe dawning hats, gloves purse, shoes & coats are forever stamped in my mind. I was blessed to assist Porter with a few projects including her family genealogy. This world will never be the same without Porter in it !!! Heaven has gained an Angel ! Oh how she loved all her children, grands & great-grands!!! Her greatest legacy was her abiding faith in Christ & may His love be your comfort.
Love, Julia S Coffman
