Biography:

Michael “Mike” Moore Headlee, 55, of Little Rock, AR, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, at his home in Little Rock.

Mike was born in Charleston, South Carolina and spent most of his childhood growing up in Searcy, Arkansas. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he earned a degree in accounting at the Walton College of Business.  During his time at the university, he was a proud and active member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.

He went on to build a distinguished career in corporate finance and accounting, holding executive leadership roles where he guided large teams and managed complex financial operations.  Known for his expertise, integrity, and mentorship, Mike left a lasting impact on everyone he worked with.

Mike was very well known and respected by his many friends, family and colleagues for his quick wit, dynamic sense of humor and intelligence.  He had an incredible passion for music and could talk about it for hours.  He was a walking encyclopedia, able to pinpoint the artist, album and year behind nearly any song he heard.  For Mike, music was more than a hobby - it was a way he connected with the people he cared about most.

Mike was a proud and loving father, devoted loved one to his family, and a great friend who built strong enduring relationships with all that were lucky enough to be a part of his life.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, John Franklin Headlee; his maternal grandparents, Benny and Lavern Etzkorn of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and his paternal grandparents, Sonny Headlee (Betty Headlee) of Searcy, Arkansas and Patricia Wood (James Wood) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his mother, Marty Headlee of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter Meredith Headlee of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Mark Headlee and Stewart Headlee of Little Rock, Arkansas;  Uncle, Tom Headlee (Linda Headlee) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and nieces, Hannah and Hayden Headlee of Little Rock, Arkansas

A celebration of life service will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home at 6313 West Markham St. in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

I’m so sorry to hear this. Blessings and comfort to Mrs. Headlee, Mark and Stewart.
Mike was an exceptional person with gifts and attributes that others would envy. Very intelligent, handsome, funny, integrity, character.
Looking back over the years we shared so much together. So much that I can’t list everything . What I can say , is it was a very special time in life to have a friend who was there for you. Mike was always willing to offer help in anyway.
I cherish the memories I had with Mike forever.
I know he’s with the Lord now. Free from sorrow, grief, pain.
I do recall I time when his grandfather Mr. Sonny Headlee had passed away. My grandfather had passed away recently as well. I remember talking with Mike during his difficult time. I told him “your Granddad is in heaven now Mike. He’s free of the bad things in this world. In heaven there’s no pain, no sadness…Only happiness beyond our understanding. Your Grandad has finally met the one who created him. Heaven is a place where all our capable of many things. Your Granddad, can dunk a basketball on a goal that’s 80 feet tall. And by the way my grandad was right there to block it”. He laughed so hard when I told him that.
I will see you someday my friend…

Mark, Stewart and Mrs. Headlee, I am so sorry. Mike meant so much to me. Even though we were the same age, I looked up to him. He was freaking smart, he had a brilliant sense of humor (probably 50% of his jokes went over my head) and his crazy musical knowledge.

I remember hanging at your house on a school night and leaving about 10:00 pm and he would say, "Guess I need to work on Calculus and then finish physics." Turns up in class the next day and makes a freaking A on the assignments. No worries, just getting it done.

There are so many stories I have been reliving in my mind. The trips to Little Rock, the senior trip to FL, him on stage at the Jr. Revue and just times spent hanging out.

No matter how long it went between conversations, we immediately were back in synch like we haven't missed a day. We would be laughing, joking, talking about the latest music and catching up on family. I'm going to miss him and our conversations.

There was no one like him and it is going to leave a hole in my heart.

Rest easy Mike....until we meet again.
