Biography: Louis Warren “Biff” Morgan, 82, passed away peacefully in Little Rock on July 24, 2025, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born on July 6, 1943, to Virginia and Louis Bedford “L. B.” Morgan in Little Rock, he graduated from Hall High School in 1961 and then attended the University of Arkansas, where he graduated in 1965. At the U of A, he was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity where he served as both President and Secretary. Biff also served his country in the Arkansas Air National Guard for five years with one year of active duty.
After his military service, he joined First National Bank, where he would proceed to work for over 42 years. During those years he remained loyal to his customers and friends through the merger and transition to First Commercial Bank and also Regions Bank. Biff was the consummate people person, and his banking career brought him great satisfaction, joy, the ability to mentor and help others, and lifelong friendships too numerous to count. Biff held many jobs at the bank through the years, but was a Correspondent Banker at heart, and retired in 2009 as Senior Vice President and Manager of Regional and Correspondent Banking and Public Funds. Biff was a graduate of the ABA Basic School of Banking and Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU, served as a board member and Vice Chairman-Credit Committee of the Arkansas Bankers Association, and also a board member of the Mid-South School of Banking in Memphis.
Being extremely civic minded, Biff was very active in his community as a member of the Downtown Little Rock Rotary Club, Board Member of the Red Cross, Chairman of the Established Industry Committee – Greater Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, Chairman & Board Member of Economics Arkansas, Board Member and Treasurer of St. Jude’s Children Hospital – Little Rock Chapter, and Secretary of Pleasant Valley Country Club. Biff and his family were also longtime members of both St. James UMC and Pulaski Heights UMC.
Biff’s passion was his family and friends and being in the Arkansas outdoors. Deer hunting, turkey hunting, duck hunting in and around Stuttgart, trout fishing on the White River near Cotter, and celebrating the successes of the Razorbacks were activities most near and dear to his heart. His passion for duck hunting led to a storied collection of classic handmade Arkansas duck calls procured over many decades, landing his name in many books, newspapers and magazine articles. A poster of Biff’s collection still hangs in many duck clubs around the state today. He also served as the Chairman of Ducks Unlimited Sponsor Dinner, President of the National Call Collectors Association and Chairman of the Boy Scout Duck Hunt Auction.
Throughout all phases of his life, people were the root of his happiness as he had a way of making every person feel special. It was easily his greatest gift.
Biff is survived by his wife of 50 years, Debbie Morgan, his son Brent and wife Melissa of Little Rock, his two grandchildren Mallory and Everett, numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Virginia and L.B. Morgan and sister Sharon Penick.
