Biography: Ruth Ollie Lee Kaltwasser Naylor was born April 24, 1927 and passed at age 98 on July 19, 2025. She was the daughter of Oliver and Rosalee Kaltwasser and grew up around Caldwell, Lyons, and Somerville Texas.

Ollie had a golden childhood in the 1940’s surrounded by family and sisters Gloria and Betty. She cherished the time that she spent at her Grandma Shoppe’s house surrounded by her teenage aunts who doted on her and dressed her up “like a little doll.”  Ollie would refuse to come home until her uncle would bribe her with ice cream. She rode a horse to get the mail, stole watermelons in the summer, and played outdoors with her sisters.

During High School Ollie worked at the local phone company that was located in a private home.  She would answer the phone from the person making the call and physically connect the call to the person intended. She was part of a little slice of telephone history.

Her family found out about the bombing of Pearl Harbor and WW2 when they came out of church one evening. The news had come to their little town by radio and immediately in the next few days all the young men joined the military. She got in trouble by using all her mamas sugar rations to make cookies to send to the boys overseas. She did what she could to support the war effort.

After high school graduation Ollie moved to Houston Texas to find a job with Shell Oil. She lived in a boarding house for several years and had a wonderful time. She spent time on the Galveston beach with her friends. She also started college night classes.

At this time she met her future husband Dowell Naylor.  They dated 3 months, knew that this was true love and got married. They were right because they were married for 50 years until the death of her beloved Dowell. She eventually forgave him for moving her away from Texas to Arkansas.

Ollie gave birth to Nanette, Kathleen, Juliane, and Frank. Frank was taken in a vehicle accident just 2 months past his 21st birthday. This was the great sorrow of her life.

After Dowell died, she enjoyed bridge, traveling, dining out with her friends, and spending time with her family.

She was known for her beautiful holiday celebrations and meals. Her fried chicken and chocolate pie were family favorites and her lasagna was made from a secret recipe that she later confessed was from a magazine. Anyone outside the family who asked for the recipe was denied. Her clown collection was very large and eclectic. It terrorized her grandchildren’s’ childhoods. But everyone wanted a clown later to remember her by.

She spent a lot of time with her grandchildren Karla, Melissa, and Allie who she adored. She fed them cake for breakfast and other such things that confused and confounded their parents who did not receive such treatment as her children. She was blessed with great grandchildren Keith, Luke, Kaitlynn, Elijah, Kaidence, and Kinsley.

She was always careful in her appearance and never left the house without her hairdo, makeup, and fashionable clothes. She was a beautiful woman. Her house was always clean and she loved her animals, especially her cat Cuddles and her house plants.

She loved a good stiff drink, a beer with her pizza or Mexican food, shopping with Julie, going to the casino and fishing with Dowell at the Little Red River where they had a little place.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Oliver and Rosalee Kaltwasser, her husband Dowell Naylor, her son Frank Dowell Naylor, her niece Brenda Pargac, her sister in law Bertie Acker and her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Her memory will be upheld by her daughters Nanette Foreman (David), Kathleen Naylor and Julianne Naylor; grandchildren B’Aylana Karla Morgan, Melissa Koch (John), and Allie Vogler, great grandchildren Keith Morgan, Luke Morgan, Kaitlynn Bishop (Sean), Elijah Sugg, Kaidence Sugg and Kinsley Sugg and great great grandson Ezra Bishop; Nieces Barbara Acker, Phyliss Acker and Ruth Acker,  Karen Sager, Donna Laster (Scott), Diane Luckenbach (Tim) and Jennifer Stubbs (Tracy); nephews David Sager (Mary) and Mark Sager(Susan); and her beloved sisters Gloria Sager and Betty Stephens.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. The memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Pinecrest. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

On of my earliest memories of Aunt Ollie is when I was 5 or 6. She was massively pregnant, probably with Nanette Foreman. She was drinking coffee and had set her cup and saucer on that enormous belly. I thought that was the funniest thing I had ever seen. I remember laughing like crazy because "Aunt Ollie has a table on her stomach!!"

Mrs. Naylor taught me about family. I remember that right along with the kids she laughed at Saturday morning cartoons. Occasionally I would join the group at the table for an after school snack of fried chicken dipped in ketchup; naturally, a few Fritos on the side. That is still a delicacy of a meal and a memory that I enjoy! Your mom was always pleasant and beautiful! I’m so thankful to have known her and all of the family during my formative years. You each left an impact on my heart!
