Biography:

Benson Arthur Cashion passed away on July 12, 2025 in Little Rock. He was born on October 21,1951 in Little Rock to the late Matthew Knight Cashion and the late Jane Hurley Cashion.

He is survived by his three children, Adele Jackson (Lee), Courtney Harris (Quinton), and Ben Cashion (Louise), his eight loving grandchildren Carley Harris, Ellen Jackson, Emily Harris, William Jackson, Lakin Harris, Beck Cashion, Olive Cashion, and Myles Cashion.  He is also survived by his two brothers, Ted Cashion (Ann) and Matt Cashion (Susan) as well as a niece, nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews.

He graduated from Hall High in 1970, and attended Culver Military Academy.  He then graduated from the University of Arkansas where he was a proud member of the Sigma Nu fraternity.

He went to work in the family insurance business in 1975 with his father where he spent the next 50 years meeting the needs of customers throughout the construction industry in Arkansas.  The Cashion Company Insurance and Bonds remains a staple agency to many proud and loyal customers old and new.

If you knew Benson, you knew how important community involvement was to him. He showed great generosity in time and financial support to many organizations he cared deeply about. These include the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of Arkansas, The Arkansas Asphalt Paving Association, The Associated Builders and Contractors of Arkansas, The Arkansas Game & Fish Foundation, The Quawpaw Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and many more.

He was perhaps most proud of his service to the Arkansas State Police Foundation where he served as a board member for many years. There, he played a key role in planning and developing the State Police Foundation Driver Training Track.

Benson loved the Natural State. As a life long Arkansan, he spent significant time at Mountain Harbor on Lake Ouachita, in Gee Ridge at “the farm” with duck hunting friends, flying his Cessna around the state to see customers and friends, and cheering on the Razorbacks.

A visitation will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 16 from 5-7 pm.  The family will have a small burial service before the larger 1:00PM funeral service at St Marks Episcopal Church on Thursday, July 17, 2025. A reception will follow in Schiffler Hall at the church.

Donations to Benson’s memory can be made to the Arkansas State Police Foundation and St. Marks Episcopal Church (Little Rock). Arrangements under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

During a recent visit to Little Rock I learned belatedly of my Hall High Warrior football mate and friend Benson’s passing. What sad news. It was wonderful seeing Benson a couple of years ago at our most recent reunion. I can still hear us singing, “We are the Warrior’s, the mighty-mighty Warrior’s…” on many bus rides after our victories. To the family, please accept my condolences. My prayers are with you. Rest in peace, BC…Don “Donny” Wilkerson…Amelia Island, Florida

I loved Benson Cashion. The first time I met him was when my Jim sat me down at his table in the dining room of the AAPA Convention, with the admonition to "take care of her". Jim was on the Board and to sit upfront. Introverted Sandy was feeling very lost. Benson, of course, took me immediately under his wing, where he kept me for about the next 20 years. He took his task seriously and never let Jim down. He guided me through Jim's heart attack and surgery in 2008 and showed me the ropes of the hospital. Benson, aka the Miracle Man, unfortunately learned waay too much about hospitals as he battled his way thru the years, but he never lost that Benson humor. In 2022, he supported us again as he vsited the hospital daily - sat with me, fed me, and comforted me thru Jim's long heart battle. I am eternally grateful for the love and kindness that he shared with us. Condolences to his loving family- the family that he loved so dearly - on the loss of the one of a kind, Benson Cashion.

Adele, Courtney and Ben,
No secret how Benson loved each and every one of your families. You brought a sparkle to his eyes when he spoke of any of you. I loved your Dad so much. He was much more to me than the “head dog” at work, he was my good and faithful longtime friend. He always told us that things are never as good as they seem nor as bad as they seem and to this day I always use this saying when I need it. Maybe it will be helpful to you now, if not already. I pray for peace for each of you during this time through your happy memories of him. Love to all ♥️

From high school til grown up you were an amazing man and friend. A mentor to many. I loved watching you bringing your friends to Carti for their treatments. You always say I come just “because” Because you did you brought much happiness to many folks. You proudly hosted the II A pancake breakfast just “because” you cared about bringing awareness to breast cancer. Your light will continue to shine just “because”. Prayers for each family member

“I’m a firm believer that when we lose someone close to us, like a father, they continue to live on through us and give us unbelievable strength. They’re so connected to us that they become a part of us.”

Ron and I cherish the years at the lake with Benson and you kids.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. I will always remember when I first met Benson and I referred to him as Matt’s brother. That was a long time joke with us. Benson had a sunny personality and loved his kids and grandkids! Always had stories to tell about his grandkids. He will be greatly missed.
