Biography:
Sharon Galt Echols, 88, passed away on July 3, 2025. Sharon grew up in North Little Rock. She attended North Little Rock High School where she was secretary of her senior class and a drum major in the band. She attended the University of Arkansas. As a young woman, she trained for and secured a private pilot’s license. She had an adventurous spirit and boundless energy. As she aged, she channeled these energies into raising her children, grandchildren, and anyone else who needed some love, encouragement, and wise advice.
Sharon sought opportunities to serve others. She taught elementary school, Sunday School, and volunteered her time to countless committees and causes. Sharon believed that her most important role was that of wife and mother. She made every holiday and celebration special. When Sharon wasn’t taking care of others, she enjoyed working in her yard and playing bridge and mahjong with her friends.
It is impossible to describe Sharon by listing her accomplishments. She was beautiful, smart, brave, funny, and strong. She personified the quote “though she be but little she be fierce.” There will never be another quite like her.
Sharon is preceded in death by her father, Maxwell Galt, her mother, Christine Galt, her sister, Christie Porter, and her beloved husband, John. She is survived by her three children, Michael Dawson (Stephanie), Kyle Echols (Angela), and Beth Echols (Scott), and six grandchildren, Gabe Echols, Justin Echols, Matthew Echols, Aidan Echols-Joyce, Sophia Echols-Joyce, and Max Echols. She adored her niece, Meredith Echols Bell, and nephews Todd Porter, Chris Echols, Kevin Jones, and Scott Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. Arrangements under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, RuebelFuneralHome.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church.

My deepest sympathies to the Family.
