Biography: Donald E. Don” Scott, age 99, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. A devoted husband, veteran, engineer, and man of deep faith and generosity, Don lived a life marked by service, intellect, and enduring kindness.

Born on December 20, 1925, in Buffalo, New York, Don was the son of Margaret and Chauncey Jones and the grandson of Mary Jane and Edgar Scott. He pursued higher education at the University of Pittsburghs School of Engineering, where he laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to learning and excellence.

Don proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. A graduate of the Army Air Force Aviation School, he maintained B-25 bombers, A-26 aircrafts, and P-38 fighter planes during his military career. His technical skill and dedication earned him several commendations and reflected his unwavering sense of duty.

In civilian life, Don built a successful career as an engineer while also nurturing a rich personal life grounded in love and community. He shared 62 cherished years with his beloved wife Rose Scott. Together they created a warm home filled with affection—not only for each other but also for their many pets over the years.

After retiring to Hot Springs Village in 1995, Don became deeply involved with Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. His contributions were many: singing in the choir, serving on multiple committees, and playing an integral role in the churchs Cursillo Movement and Ultreya Regional events. Through these activities, he and Rose formed lasting friendships that brought joy through worship, travel, and celebration.

Dons commitment to service extended beyond his church walls. He was a steadfast supporter of local outreach programs such as Jackson House, the Arkansas Food Bank, and various veteransassociations. His philanthropy also reflected his heritage and values—supporting institutions like the African American Heritage Museum, The Smithsonian Institution, the University of Pittsburgh, The National Cathedral in Washington D.C., and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

Those who knew Don remember him as a gracious man with a positive outlook who always believed in the best of people. His cultured demeanor was matched by a generous spirit that touched countless lives.

He is survived by his half-sisters Sandra Daniels and Patricia (Ronald) Burnett of Pennsylvania; cousin Dr. Gloria McCoy of Maryland; as well as several nieces and nephews who carry forward his legacy.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife Rose Scott; his parents Margaret and Chauncey Jones; his grandparents Mary Jane and Edgar Scott; siblings Richard Jones, Philson Jones, Oliver Jones, and Ann Smith; and nieces Janene Smith and Jayda Singleton.

May Don Scotts memory continue to inspire all who knew him through his example of faithfulness, generosity, service—and above all—love. A Funeral Mass will be held on June 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church 199 Barcelona Rd, Hot Springs Village, AR officiated by The Rev. Brenda M. Kroll and The Rev.
