Biography:
Colonel Donald Raymond Rebsamen, 85, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and public servant, Don lived a life guided by service, intellect, and love for his family.
Born in Little Rock on July 31, 1939, Don was a graduate of Eudora High School and earned his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University. He later received his law degree from the University of Arkansas, laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to justice and public service.
Don proudly served in the United States Army and Army Reserve for a total of 30 years, including many years as a Judge Advocate General. He retired with the rank of Colonel, earning the respect and admiration of those he served with for his leadership, integrity, and dedication.
In his civilian career, Don continued to serve the people of Arkansas through the legal system. He began as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Arkansas and went on to serve as an Administrative Law Judge for both the Arkansas Workers Compensation Commission and the United States Social Security Administration. His fairness and compassion made a lasting impact on all who appeared before him.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann; his sons, Don and Paul (fiancé Jessica); and his treasured granddaughter, Ana Blaise, who affectionately called him “Popatop.” He is also survived by his nephew, Scotty; his niece, Natalie; and several cherished cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores; his father, Paul; his brother, Paul; and his niece, Donna.
Don was a lifelong golfer and found great joy later in life reinvigorating his bridge game at the Little Rock Bridge House. He was a proud Razorbacks fan—with a soft spot for LSU—always saying he couldn’t lose when the two teams played each other. But above all, he loved time with his family, especially moments shared with Ana Blaise.
A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a visitation at Ruebel Funeral Home from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friends and family are warmly invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Tee of Central Arkansas, Out of the Woods Animal Rescue, or Little Rock Duplicate Bridge Club, causes that reflect Don’s generous spirit and values. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com
