Biography: Robert Patterson (“Patt”) Pine was born in Little Rock on December 19, 1970, the only child given to Robert Henry Pine, Jr. and Dorcas Sue Patterson Pine. The perfect holiday gift, the staff at St. Vincent Infirmary sent Patt home in a Christmas stocking. Every year after, to avoid any confusion as to whose birthday came first, his proud mother waited to decorate the house for Christmas until Patt’s birthday had been properly celebrated.

As a young man, Patt was involved in the Children’s Theatre at the Arkansas Arts Center, competitive swimming, and the Boy Scouts of America, having achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville from which he graduated in 1993, and where he forged many of his closest, most enduring friendships. Following graduation, he attended the University of Arkansas William H. Bowen School of Law, passing the Arkansas Bar Exam in 1996.  Patt was a practicing attorney for many years and was known and respected in the legal community.

Patt met his husband Andrew in 2007, and though the relationship flourished, he sometimes found himself lamenting Andrew’s decision to follow him into the legal profession. The educational rigors were a formidable undertaking the first time he went through it. It did not become easier enduring it again through Andrew. But, no one was happier or more proud (and relieved) when the latter’s successful Bar Exam results were announced. Together, Patt and Andrew spent many wonderful years traveling the world and visiting with family and friends. His was ultimately a beautiful life of love and service. Patt freely shared his quiet wisdom, quick wit and wry smiles with anyone fortunate enough to know and love him.

Robert Patterson Pine died at home on April 14, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He is predeceased by parents, Dorcas Sue and Robert Pine Jr., uncle Glenn Pine, aunt Alice Ann Harris, cousin Katherine Wolfe, and niece Ella Reid Hill.  He is survived by his husband, Kevin (“Andrew”) Brunson, Daniel C. Smith (a very special friend), mother-in-law Dr. N. Robin Moore, father-in-law Ronald Burke Brunson (Sharon), sister-in-law Kie Hill (Jeff), nephews Aaron and Brett Hill, uncle Eugene Harris, cousins Cheryl Ledbetter (Dennis), Ronald Harris (Carolyn), Patt Harris (Carol), and Jake Pine (Lisa) uncles Larry Pine (Margaret) and David Pine (Norma), and by many friends and chosen family.

A memorial service will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home (6313 W. Markham St., Little Rock, AR. 72205) on May 3, 2025 at 1:00 pm.  All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Out of the Woods Animal Rescue, Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, the Little Rock Animal Village, and the Humane Society of Pulaski County. Arrangements under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

Patt was such an incredible school friend. He was so nice to me when I transferred to McClellan my junior year. He went out of his way to help me to fit in. He lit up whatever room he was in. Always willing to help and make everyone feel like they were part of his friend group. His smile and twinkling eyes will be remembered. To his family and friends, sending you special thoughts and prayers.

My heart and prayers go out toPatt's family and friends. Patt was a wonderful person and an even better attorney. Having worked with Patt in the bankruptcy world, I learned what a genuine, caring individual Patt was. He always treated everyone with kindness, respect and empathy. He was a joy to work with and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. R.I.P Patt!

I was fortunate to work with Patt Pine. He was an excellent attorney, a genuinely good man, with a pleasant countenance in all seasons. So grateful to have seen Patt and met his Dad and his husband Andrew last year. Patt was greatly loved and will be greatly missed

Dear Kevin and other family,
I was startled and sad to learn of Patt’s death. He was far too young. I hope you are surrounded by love. You are in my prayers.
