Biography: Donald Vancil Moore Jr. age 86 passed away at home October 21, 2024, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was born October 31, 1937, in Hope, Arkansas to the late Donald and Dorothy Moore. Van graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in accounting and had a forty-year career in that profession. He was a long-time partner in the Rasco Winter Abston Moore CPA firm. Van was a serious reader, student of military history and avid listener of classical opera, attending live performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City on a number of occasions. He also cherished annual family trips to Florida and spending time on Lake Hamilton.
During his time as a student at the UA in Fayetteville, Van was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity where he had wonderful times, developed lifelong friends and made lifetime memories.
Van is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Dawn Moore – mother of his two sons and beloved daughter, Lisa Fowler Fort.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Alstadt Moore, son Mark Moore [Chris], son Vance Moore [Renee], brother Larry Moore, son-in-law David Fort and grandchildren, Dr. Mitchell Moore, Shelby Moore Waddle, Mary Catherine Moore, Jewel Fort, David Fort Jr. and John Hudson Fort, as well as great grandchildren, Ava Jones and Maya Moore.
A family graveside service will be performed at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Columbarium in Little Rock, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. Arrangements are entrusted to RuebelFuneralHome.com
