Biography: Thurman Eugene Couch, 85, of Pasadena, CA and formerly of Benton, AR died peacefully in his sleep on July 21. Born December 19, 1938, to Anna Pearl and Hubert Couch in Benton. He attended Bryant Public Schools, graduated from Hendrix College with a degree in Psychology, and obtained his master’s in social work from the University of Southern California. He was a Family Clinical Therapist in the Pasadena area for many years.
Thurman lived in the Los Angeles area during his adult life and spent much of his time on the coast of California with his camera as well as building hiking trails in the Angeles Crest National Forest. He was President of the Pasadena chapter of UNICEF in the 1980s, where he dedicated his time and his heart to protecting the children of the world.
Thurman is survived by Annette LeBow, former spouse and mother of his three sons, Brian (Nao) and Erick (Mary) of California and Mark (Silvena) and their son Alex of New York. He is also survived by his siblings, Pat Laster and Carolyn Hoggard (Lynn) of Benton, AR, Barbara Stefan and Beverly Villines of Little Rock, AR, Guy Couch of Leslie, AR, and many friends and other family members.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Bill Couch and sister Martha (Couch) Givens. A Gathering of Friends was held in Pasadena on August 11, and a family memorial service will be held in Benton at a later date. An online condolence book can be found at RuebelFuneralHome.com
