Biography: Charlene Montgomery, born in Rockford, Illinois, to James Overend and Betty Cook (Riebe), passed away surrounded by loved ones. Charlene was a devoted mother to three children: Craig Howen, the late Troy Howen (1982), and Candace Howen (Moody), who preceded her in death in 2011.

In 1982, Charlene married Charles Montgomery, forming a blended family that included Lisa Montgomery (Cantu), Donald Montgomery, Troy Montgomery, and Dustin Montgomery. The couple relocated to Little Rock, AR, where they shared many passions, including drag boat racing, car shows, dancing, and caring for numerous pets.

Charlene was a skilled cosmetologist by trade but chose to leave the profession to travel with her loving husband, Charles, as they took on construction projects across the country and abroad. They eventually settled in Roland, AR, where they enjoyed their retirement together.

Charlene and Charles were blessed with a large family, including 22 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Holly, RN with Gentiva Hospice, for her compassionate care and support.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 6 to 7 p.m. at The Church at Pinnacle Mountain.  Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. at The Church at Pinnacle Mountain followed by burial at Kennerly Cemetery, Roland, Arkansas.  Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

Charlene was a very special and dear friend to our family for several years. She was the sweetest and kindest person anyone could ever hope to know. I will never forget her lovely smile and eyes. Heaven became more beautiful when Charlene entered the gates. We will always love and miss her dearly. Thank you Lord for blessing us with the wonderful friendship of Charlene and her devoted husband, Chuck.

I met Charlene years ago in salon. I noticed she was watching me. She came up and ask me if I would except her as a client . After a brief conversation... I realized we had the same love for hair. In 6 short years I made a friend.. she taught me forgiveness & love. I'm never going to forget you Love Christy

Charlene was an angel in disguise. Her smile would make your day. I was honored to be able to make their 25th wedding anniversary cake. My husband Rodney and my daughter Trisha and I were able to be with them for the celebration. We had so much fun. Will love you always. God bless you, Chuck.
