Biography:
Ethel M. Matthews was born to John and Lillian Matthews on November 26, 1928. She died at UAMS on August 6, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, her husband Raymond Brown, daughter Brenda Brown Bruce, daughter Connie Brown Jarvis, and 3 sons in law Richard Bruce, Sam Jarvis and Gerald Nesbitt. Survivors of Ethel are daughter Juanita Nesbitt, 5 grandsons, one great grandson and special friend Sylvia Eagles, as well as two special nieces and two nephews.
Ethel was very proud of Arkansas and the Arkansas Razorbacks in every sport. She knew names of all present and former Arkansan’s participating in the Olympics. She was very savvy when it came to sports and was looking forward to the Olympics.
A very heartfelt thanks to all staff on 9H and the emergency department at UAMS, as well as the staff at Arkansas Hospice.
A funeral service will be held Friday August 9 at 2:00 at Ruebel Funeral Home with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Services under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

With a sad heart I have to say good bye. I have many happy memories of you and me. We sat on thr porch swing after supper and I cranked the victrola so you could jitter bug. And many happy holidays. I love you and will always keep you in a special place in my heart. Go rest high on that mountain your work is done.

I will miss talking to you especially about our Hogs. You were my favorite Aunt. Your chili Mac was the best and I keep trying to get mine to taste like yours but haven’t managed it yet. Hug my Mama for me. Rest in heavenly peace. ♥️
