Biography: Jerry D. Matthew, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024 in Palm Springs, Florida.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife and friend who will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.

Jerry was born on August 15, 1937 in Humnoke, Arkansas and resided thereafter in Stuttgart, Arkansas.  Following graduation from high school, she married, became a mother of five children while residing in Pine Bluff.  She later moved to Little Rock and for the past 10 years resided in Lake Worth, Florida to be near her daughter and grandchildren.  She loved spending time with her children and their spouses but she especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sharing stories, playing games, and watching their favorite TV shows.  She was a source of strength and hope to her family, always available to offer guidance, support, encouragement and love no matter what challenges they faced.

Jerry was a longtime active member of Pulaski Heights UMC.  She loved ministering to the elderly as a Society of St. Stephens member alongside her husband, Rev. Carl V. Matthew.

Jerry is predeceased by her husband, Rev. Carl V. Matthew, her parents, Daniel E. and L. Virginia Haskins and an infant son, Thomas S. Fisher.

Jerry is survived by her sister Dana L. Dickson and daughter Traci Dickson Felts (Terry); Jerry’s four children and their spouses: Doug Fisher (Nancy Smith Fisher), Danny Fisher (Sheb), Mark Fisher (Elizabeth) and Nancy Fisher Garrido (Laz); Jerry’s grandchildren and their spouses/great grandchildren: Brian Smith and Melissa Smith Sanchez, Stuart Fisher (Whitney/Austin and Riley),  Sam Fisher (Kaden), Kelsey Lam (Noi/Ahsoka), Kate DeSantis (Nick),  Laura Fisher Shannon (Brandon/Ian), Kristen Fisher Burrows (Todd/Jake), Jessica Fisher (Laura/Sean/Gracie), Ally Mitchell, Bren Mitchell, and Lukas, Erika and Ava Grace Garrido.  Jerry’s memory is carried in the hearts of all those she loved.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Park at 10:00AM on July 24, 2024 for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn Dr, Little Rock, AR 72205. I am so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. My family attended PHUMC back when Rev Carl was there. I remember sitting in church behind Jerry! Such happy memories of that time of life. I hope you are all filled with happy memories too that will be a comforting grace in days to come.. My parents were Ruth and Bill Jones. Lots of love.
