Biography: Laurence “Larry” Elwood Hacker passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the age of 80.
He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 11, 1943. While growing up with his family, he lived all over the United States, including Ogden, Utah; Denver, Colorado; Tucson, Arizona; and Bakersfield, California, finally ending in Little Rock. A graphic designer and salesman by trade, he was also a model airplane enthusiast, a gunsmith and antique gun collector, a one-time motorcycle owner, and was very involved in the political scene in Saline County, Arkansas - and he loved to speak about any and all of these things with anyone who would listen (willingly or otherwise). Married for 59 years as of January 25, Larry was endlessly devoted to his bride Jenny (his “angel”). He began showing this devotion on their first date, as he poured his drink into his lap looking at his watch to tell her the time.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Hacker, and his father Ureal “Al” Hacker. He is survived by his wife Jenna, his sisters Sharon (Russ) McKenzie of Ozark, MO, and Beverly Post of Brookfield, MO, sister-in-law Donna Johnson, brother-in-law Dick (Janet) Plunkett; his children Brett Hacker and Laura (Tom) Fillingim, both of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Clinton (Jane) Fillingim of Nashville, Rachel Hacker of Denver, CO, and Kyle Hacker, Ryan Hacker, and Molly Hacker, all of Nashville; and great-grandson Hudson Fillingim of Nashville.
