Biography: Chase Fendley McCracken passed away on January 7, 2024, at the age of 38, surrounded by loved ones.

Chase was born on February 19, 1985, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock and was baptized at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Growing up, he attended the St. Mark’s Day School, Holy Souls Grade School, Catholic High School and graduated with Honors from Central High School in 2003. He went on to attend the University of Arkansas where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science. After receiving his undergraduate degree, Chase attended medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock to follow in the surgical footsteps of his late father, Dr. John D. McCracken. He later received his MBA in Finance from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Business.

Chase was known for his beautiful heart, brilliant mind, charming and witty personality, and his many talents; he had an amazing gift for using his talents to make everyone smile. Being musically gifted, he could pick up any instrument and play a song by ear in a matter of minutes. He also enjoyed flying; learning to fly before learning to drive, he received his pilot’s license before his driver’s license. In more recent years, he developed a passion for finance and analytics and was looking forward to future business ventures. But more than anything, Chase loved his family fiercely and nothing made him happier than making them proud.
Chase was preceded in death by his beloved father, Dr. John Dilliard McCracken, of Little Rock; his grandparents John W and Myrtle McCracken of Conway, AR; and Charles and Leah Scott of Monroeville, AL.

He is survived by his loving mother, Marlise McCracken; his brother and best friend, John Destin McCracken, both of Little Rock; His aunt Donna “Sissy” Stallworth (Steve) of Greenville, AL; his uncle Charles Scott (Janet) of Milton, FL; his cousins Bubba Martens (Bonnie) of Camden, AL; Charlie Martens (Bradley) of Monroeville, AL; Jeff Scott (Jen) of Milton, FL; and Kevin Scott of Tampa, FL. He also leaves behind the love of his life, Courtney Ballentine, and his many lifelong friends that he deeply loved and cared for immensely. Chase will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

Services to celebrate Chase’s beautiful life will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Little Rock on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., immediately followed by the columbarium service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in remembrance of Chase. St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1000 N Mississippi St, Little Rock, AR 72207. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

Chase was one of my students in second grade at Holy Souls School. He was one of the nicest and kindest students I have known. He never met a stranger. He had so many friends. I loved his sense of humor and the joy he brought to the classroom. He was very bright and always did his best in the class room. From what I’ve read, things didn’t change through high school and college. He was one of a kind! Marlise and Destin, I will continue to pray for you and think of you during this time. I know you will miss him terribly.

Marlise and John,
Words are inadequate to express our sadness upon getting this news.
We are thinking of Dr. John and the grandparents being there to greet Chase and welcome him to his eternal home.
We'll miss the service due to travel, but our hearts and minds are with you throughout this time.
Through the love of Christ,
Ann and Steve
