Biography: After a wonderful like spanning 99 years, Ann Hancock Tucker of Little Rock was raised into the arms of the Lord December 15^th, 2023.  May she rest in peace and rise in glory.  She was born September 15, 1924, the daughter of Mr. James Alvis Hancock and Ethel Hancock of Paragould, AR.  Ann was happily married on June 16, 1951 to Sterling Woodward Tucker (Tuck, as he was known) of Little Rock, AR.  After their wedding, Ann and Sterling lived their lives in together Little Rock. 

She attended Hollins College of Roanoke, VA before graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and the May Court.  She was Carolina Tar Heel fan to the end.  During and after World War II, Ann worked with the Gray Lady, a medical aid volunteer affiliation with the Red Cross.  

After the war, she was a Member of the Board of the Billy Mitchell Boys Club of Little Rock, the Junior Board of the Florence Crittenden House, a member of the Childrens Hospital Board and a member of the Arkansas Women’s Golf Association. Ann enjoyed a variety of activities ranging from golf and art appreciation to Saturday night dancing, bridge, and duck hunting.  And, of course, her loving family.  Her weekly bridge game with her same partners for years was made more exciting with nickel and dime side bets.  How excited she would get when she won a dollar!  An accomplished world traveler, Ann even made an around the world trip with Tuck.

She was survived by her son, Sterling W. Tucker, Jr., his wife Leah Kathryn Tucker and her two grandchildren Sterling W. Tucker III and Kathryn Suzanne Tucker, all of Fayetteville, AR. She is also survived by her niece, Kathy Wells of Little Rock.  Ann was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Tuck, and her son Philip Hancock Tucker, both of Little Rock.
There will be a private family celebration of Ann’s life. The Reverend Elizabeth Henry-McKeever will lead the service.  Ruebel Funeral Home is planning arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, Ann would ask that donations to go to Arkansas Hospice or UAMS.  Ann’s family extends a special thank you to her caregivers: Donna Nowden, Carolyn Cuspao and Mary Shavers, who provided her with loving companionship, comfort, and dignity.
