Biography: John Douglas “Doug” Holcomb, 63, beloved husband, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, died Friday, December 22, 2023. Doug's loving memory is carried on by his wife, Lisa Thompson Holcomb; sisters Emily (Jeff) McRae, Elizabeth (Larry) Watts of Little Rock, Anne (Andrew) Waters of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; aunt and uncle, Steve and Sharrell Holcomb; nine nieces and nephews, an extensive extended family and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Stuart Holcomb, and parents, Norman and Carroll Holcomb, of Little Rock.
Born on December 11, 1960, he attended public schools, graduating from Central High School in 1980 and the University of Arkansas in 1985 with a BA in Studio Art.
With his father, Norman, Doug worked in design and development for many years, leaving his mark on the Little Rock landscape with many private homes and condominium communities.
Doug will be remembered for his unmatched humor, quick wit, and kindness. He was an avid artist, gardener, photographer, and captain of the late, great, SS Minnow, a lovingly refurbished Lonestar Cabin Cruiser. Many will remember him navigating the Arkansas River with joy and skill, leaving behind a legacy of fond memories and enduring friendships.
A memorial service celebrating Doug's life will be held in the Chapel at Ruebel Funeral Home on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 10 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com
