Biography:
After a long life well lived, William (Bill) Pumphrey passed away on December 2, 2023, at the age of 101.
Born on May 30, 1922, in Leola, AR. Bill attended and graduated from Little Rock High School, UALR and the UALR Law School. After serving in the Navy during WWII, Bill spent his career as an Attorney for the Rock Island Railroad and the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Upon his retirement, Bill started a new career as a Travel Planner and Travel Guide for World Wide Travel. As his travels were ending, Bill began volunteering at the Clinton Library, the AR Governor’s mansion and as a Master Gardener, at the Mount Holly Cemetery.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Fine and Betty Pumphrey, one sister and four brothers. Left to cherish his memory are his great niece, Lethlyn Pumphrey-Harp (Larry), great nephew, John L. Pumphrey III, his great, great niece Lindsey Ritchie (Adam), his great, great nephew, John Andrew Pumphrey and his great, great, great niece, Charlotte Ritchie.
Services, under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 2:00pm, with burial at Roselawn Cemetery to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mount Holly Cemetery (1500 Broadway, Little Rock, AR, 72201) or Trinity Episcopal Cathedral (310 W. 17th Street, Little Rock, AR, 72206) are requested.
