Biography: Carol Lou Womble Flowers, lovingly referred to as “Honey” by her family, of Little Rock, AR passed away Saturday November 25, 2023. She was born January 25, 1943 in Roxboro, North Carolina; the daughter of Rufus J and Lucy L Womble.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Long (Gordon), and son Trey Flowers (Wendy); her brother, Rocky Womble; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and dear friend Julie Beth Clements. Honey loved her family fiercely and was deeply loved and cherished by her family with the same fervent affection. She is also survived by countless friends and the community of Christ Church of which she was a vibrant part, and where she enjoyed serving through her position as Church Administrator for over 50 years.

Honey enjoyed many adventures and vacations taken with her loved ones during her lifetime, particularly countless trips to Virginia Beach. Honey loved vibrant colors, gardening, a recently started gnome collection, but most of all God and family.  She enjoyed laughing with anyone and at anything, but above all she was happiest when her family, who knew better than to walk in front of her with her cane, were together enjoying one another.

For her 80th Birthday she took her family snow tubing in Kansas City where she quickly became the life of the party on the mountain and endeared herself to the members of ski patrol who enthusiastically cheered her on.

A celebration of Honey’s life will be held Friday December 1st, 11 AM, at Christ Church 509 Scott St. Little Rock, AR 72201 with reception and visitation to follow. Interment to be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, NC on Monday December 4.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Christ Church Endowment Fund in Carol Lou’s memory would be cherished by the family.

I grew up around mama Lou since I can remember. Every time I’ve seen her has been a celebration of the many years we’ve been apart of each other’s life. From the very beginning, she always called me Kelvin, and she will forever be my mama Lou. RIP my friend. You will alway be in my memory and in my heart ❤️

On behalf of the Greater Little Rock Federation of Women’s Clubs:
Please know that we are deeply saddened by and share the sense of loss of Carol. We have enjoyed working with her and her friendship. She helped make things go smoothly and was a solid administrator for our relations with the Church for so many years. Her monthly home made desserts she personally provided as part of our lunches have been one of the highlights of our meetings. We will miss her very much.

We’re all totally devastated at the loss of Honey….we would see her when she visited Melanie & Gordon across the street usually at holidays….we feel so bad that we really didn’t know her after reading what a sweet Angel she was… just like Melanie…..wish we could have been in her circle of friends!! Much love, hugs, prayers, & blessings to Honey’s family!!!

When I first joined Christ Church, I was introduced to Carol Lou. I said, "If you need me for anything, let me know." Without hesitation, she grabbed my hand and said, "Come on!" She proceeded to take me to the third floor to move tables. At that moment I knew who was in charge. That memory always makes me smile. Always good to see Carol Lou. I will miss her.

Dear Flowers family,
I am so sorry for your loss which is our loss as well. I cannot picture this city or Christ Church without Carol Lou. May you all be comforted knowing she now is whole and rejoicing in the presence of her Savior. You know she is happier than we ever saw her here on earth! How great is that for her?! Be at peace!

Sweet, sweet Carol Lou. I worked with Honey a lot during funerals, and later when I joined Christ Church, she supported me through confirmation, always making time to be a friend and encourager. One of my favorite memories of Carol Lou is when we were setting up for a funeral reception and she made punch by mixing orange juice, pineapple juice, and ginger ale... after tasting it she said "mmmm... that might be good with some vodka in it!" Since then, one of my favorite drinks to order or serve for friends is that very drink, which I call a "Carol Lou"! I will always love and miss the sweet and funny and vibrant and colorful and kind and loving Carol Lou!!!

I was so stunned to hear of the passing of Carol Lou.
She has been at Christ Church since I have been a member there in the late 70's and she was the first person I met. She was a lovely soul
and always knew me and called me by name ( I think Carol Lou knew everyone by name at Christ Church )
My sympathy to her loving family and host of friends. Carol Lou, you will be missed here and your journey here is over and your 2ond journey will be the best ever and Heaven will receive you with open arms.
